Congrats on the loss, Steve! Do you think the heat has contributed to your losing ways? I know when its chronically hot, I spend a lot more time hydrating than eating.
You would not think that KC would be such a heat sink, I know the Missippi River Valley (further east than KC) is a bit notorious for heat and humidity. But I remember from the days of my youth in Tulsa, OK, that Springfield MO was usually a few degrees hotter and way more humid than Tulsa temps and heat indexes. KC is a bit north of Springfield, but sounds like it is just as hot . Ft Benning GA, where I did my infantry training, was especially sticky in August.

Good morning!
We have the lovely distinction of being one of the hottest places in the country right now. We keep breaking all time recorded heat records that are even topping the dust bowl years. The humidity keeps being at or above 80. The weather dude was saying last night that he didn't know it was even possible to have a dew point of 85. The feels like temps have been in the 120s. It is really impossible to be outside for long. The people that work outside, farmers, construction, etc. I don't know how they do it. Yesterday was the first day of school for many, and it was a short day. We are supposed to break this heat on Saturday, and then it should be nicer the rest of the season.
Prayers of healing for all of you!0 -
Good morning gentlemen.
Well, no heat here. Our high is forecast for 72, today, with a 30 percent chance of afternoon showers. If that happens, it will help the fire danger.
I finally see my neurosurgeon, this morning, to discuss the state of my lumbar spine. I don't know what I hope for. I certainly am not suffering the agonizing pain some deal with. But I do have pain most of the time that affects my ability to live life the way I want to. There is the thought of heading off a progressive situation before it gets worse, too.0 -
Good Morning
The winds and cloud cover yesterday gave us a nice cool but humid day (by our standards) in the 70's but it starts heating up again today. I am restarting some of my workouts today but holding off on walking right now since that can aggravate the back and spine. I am trying to get more done in the morning since I fade away every afternoon and accomplish little. Not much gets done as the day wears on. It will take time but I will figure this out. I will call the Pain Drs office to see if a convo took place with the oncologist about getting and epidural being OK. That would help with pain and discomfort.
Dave, I will be praying for your talk with the neurosurgeon. I pray you find a workable solution that restores function and enjoyment that your are missing.0 -
Started out very HOT this morning, air was not working; unit is 18 years old, expected the worst. After checking what I knew how to do called Heating and air company; unit repaired for $79.00 service call. Electric switch had gone out, removed switch and straight wired and system is working again. I'll get a switch tomorrow and replace Friday morning when it should be cooler in attic.
Personal training went well this afternoon, I'm getting use to personal training again and by demonstrating it is helping me also. Problem is neck is very bothersome, reckon used too much weight where it had not fully healed.
Heat index over a hundred all week with actual temps over a hundred Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Hope you got good news today Dave.
Steve, PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR HEAT DOWN HERE.
Lee, I have never liked Fort Benning; humidity always high and very HOT or VERY COLD very seldom an in-between. Though they do have some good fishing lakes on base.
At 8:30 it is still 93 outside but finally down to 80 inside, hopefully down to 73 or 74 by 10 tonight.0
