Tattoos and weight loss

So I have a question for all of you have that have tats and that have lost a significant amount of weight. Did the image of your tattoo get altered/distorted any after you lost a lot of weight? For those who have sleeves especially. Your skin shrinks, so then I would think that your tattoo would shrink too. Correct me if I'm wrong. I want to start a sleeve sometime soon, but I'm not sure if I should wait till my weight loss journey is complete. I'm looking for tips, comments, and answers from those who have experienced a change...or even from artists.
