Born to Run

I'm just finishing up this book, and have found it outstanding and highly motivational.. It's opened up some new perspectives for me for sure..

Here is a video covering a lot of the topics that are in the book (but a lot less entertaining)

(and as a minimalist runner, I'm in complete agreement on those theories involving it.. I find it pretty amazing that I've been able to run so many miles over the past year and half with no injuries while being 50-100 pounds over weight)

I have been trying to jog the last few weeks, but have had issues with it causing my right knee to ache. This same knee has been injured before, and I had to have a meniscus repair as well as an ACL replacement. I can't decide if I just need to work up to jogging, or if it's just not going to be able to be my thing. Any insights, advice, opinions?

I'd probably suggest trying out minimalist running (barefoot, vibams, or other...), as encouraged in the links I posted to start the thread...

my wife who is a R.N. would probably tell you to go to a running store, and or doctors, get analyzed, and do what they tell you in regards to being fitted for the best shoe, inserts, etc..

I just watched this new video of Vibram Five Fingers pro's/cons... It reminded me that I forgot to mention that if you do go minimalist, take it easy at first to give your foot/ankle muscles time to strengthen.

I finished this book a month or so ago. LOVED it. I have to admit I was fascinated by these ultra runners.
