Good morning!
Connie has been reaching out in her frustration with MADD. We've been working with MADD long enough that we know people. We know one of the national directors as he is from Kansas. Connie wrote a long letter of frustration to him. He answered back that in his role, he can't do anything, but would get it to someone who could. Connie received phone call from a woman yesterday that said that she takes this sort of thing very seriously, and promised Connie that she would be doing some fact gathering. Connie looked up her name after the phone call. It was the national CEO for MADD that had called her and talked with her. Connie gets stuff done when she is determined.
I tried sleeping with a full CPAP mask last night. I made it half way through the night, and then switched to my nasal pillows again as I was making "farty" noises with the larger mask. I'm thinking that I might need some sort of humidifier?
I never have been rock climbing, but it has interested me. I did repel once when I was in the scouts.
Prayers for all of you continue. Have a great day!0 -
Rock climbing is definitely an impressive feat of agility and upper body strength and has never been something I was ever good at. Rappelling on the other hand, I was pretty good at rappelling off the side of a chopper back in the day.
I can imagine that when Connie voices a stern opinion, it makes an impression. Go Connie.

Good morning gentlemen.
I have my first epidural steroid injection this morning. I stopped taking NSAIDs five days ago and don't take any blood thinners. Couldn't remember whether they wanted me fasting. I know I have to fast for the kidney MRI I have tomorrow morning. My preparation instructions are mixed up. Anyway, I am fasting this morning (at least until the spine clinic opens and I can get them on the phone). DDIL is driving me. They say I can't drive for 12 hours afterwards. Rita quit driving, for the most part, years ago and swore it off for good when we bought the CRV Hybrid. She doesn't understand the controls and refuses to learn.
I did a little rock climbing when I was in high school. More ice climbing on frozen waterfalls in Alaska in my 20s. Lots of rappelling in the Army, in my artillery days. Ever do an Australian rappel, Lee? Face first. I did one down a cliff once, later did one out of a Huey. Crazy - and hard to control. I thought it an impractical gimmick. But it's a cool story to tell.
Good for Connie, Steve.0 -
Good Morning
Yes Dave, you are supposed to fast for you Facet Joint Injections. At least for all those procedures (facet Joint, epidurals and RFAs) it was the same regimen. I pray it brings you some relief and helps the Dr know how to approach things going forward.
Nice job Connie! They know not who they are messing with.
We went and saw Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 yesterday. It was entertaining, but I rewatched 1 & 2 with Heather these last couple of weeks so it all made sense. I don't think the Academy will be calling them anytime soon. Yesterday I managed to fix the downstairs toilet with incident. I have read of such things but now I have lived it. Handy I am not. It seems Heather's favorite pizza place offers 40% of a large pizza when the 49ers win. Strange promotion given that I see they are expected to contend for the Super Bowl this year. But I am off the hook for dinner so Go Niners!0 -
Gosh so glad Connie got to speak to the CEO of MADD about your concerns. Yea I loved rappeling myself too. I learned jumping off a cliff doing a rappel that was overhanging on all sides and without a back-up safety rope. My DB just said don't let go with your braking hand (or else ya die). I did a Tyrolean traverse a few times where I was not quite hanging upside down but lots and lots of air between me and the ground.
Good luck with your epidural steroid Dave. Hope it does the trick.
I fell one time from a double overhanging section of rock with a belay above me and learned how to prussik my way up the rope whilst dangling as I was suspended in air. Been there done that.
Hang in there all with yur medical and pain stuff!!0 -
Good afternoon.
DD should have landed this afternoon, from her 26 hour trip returning from Bali. Haven’t heard confirmation from her. Probably stuck in Boston traffic; they’re repairing the tunnel to the airport so can’t drive in and out, use trains instead
I stay back from the edge of cliffs. Nor interested in jumping off thanks.
Did another hike this afternoon, 3.3 miles and up a few hundred feet. Nice weather here today. We canceled yesterday’s hike due to rain, rescheduled to Friday.
