Who knew cooking added so many steps?? Too bad the eating part doesn't!
We also finally hung our new wreath on the garage yesterday and we got a bit of a scare! :noway: On the gable end of our garage there is an attic window with the garage door below. Instead of measuring the logs and finding out an accurate distance between the two, we sort of eyeballed it and bought a 5' diameter wreath. As an engineer, Dennis rarely does this nor are his estimates ever far off. Well, this time he was a little "too exact" because the wreath JUST FITS!!! He was in the window pulling it up and I was on the ground guiding it and I was sure it was going to be too big, but there are about 2 inches below the window and above the garage door! Lesson learned-accurately measure next time!!!! WHEW!
I did not get to my cookies yesterday, so today I am going to mix up my Christmas gingerbread, and Andes cookies and freeze them. I like to make cookies ahead and freeze so when we go to get togethers, I can bake a variety of cookies to take with me fresh from the oven. It also helps us not to eat so many since there are not dozens of them sitting around in tins calling our names! I'd also like to get my Christmas Linzer cookies all cut out and baked for the freezer, but I am not sure I will get to them. The silver needs polishing and that may take some time and does not require many steps, so I am thinking I might just try one of Jessica's Walk and Talk miles today. We shall see!
    Have a great day!

I was a little surprised at yesterday's step total as I spent most of the day polishing silver! I have got to put that on a yearly schedule. I had not used it in 2 years and it showed :noway: It's all shiny and bright for the holidays now though! I love polished silver as it reminds me of my grandmothers and one of my great-grandmothers and my mother-in-law. All of them set a beautiful holiday table with their silver. My one grandmother called it "the jewelry of the table." I also had to iron my table cloths as they were kind of wrinkled and that required a few trips up and down stairs. Aside from that, I was just running around all day.
Today, Dennis has Cardio rehab and I am going to Aldi for some last minute items and then we are going to get our family Christmas cards and stamps and that will be the end of our errands for awhile. Since the house is all clean and the table is ready and most of the cooking is done that can be done this far ahead, I may need to get some steps in with Jessica or Leslie today.
A dusting of snow was on the ground this morning and our high today is predicted to be 22F so it should stay for the day and be pretty. Color me happy!

We semi-spontaneously rearranged our living room this weekend. What started with me moving an accent chair to make room for the Christmas tree turned into a full reorganization of everything except the entertainment stand and 1 lamp. I also pulled out and put up the new Christmas tree to confirm it works. Last year, I bought it on clearance for $15 at At Home. I'll have Ryan fluff it out and decorate it next weekend.

This morning, after getting the trash out for pick up, I decided to get some time in with Leslie and pulled up the Heart Walk on YouTube. It's been a favorite of mine for a long time. I do wish I could find a better workout to use on my watch when I do her workouts. Indoor walking never matches but I just kept moving until I hit at least a mile. I could use "other" but that doesn't track steps.

It looks like it will be a light week, workwise so hopefully I can keep moving throughout the day.

Well, yesterday ended up being a big step day, but not because I planned it that way. We went to cardio rehab as usual and did all the Aldi's and card shopping and then went to the Post Office for our Christmas stamps. All was going very well. Then, we came home and I went to start the laundry and the rug in front of my washer and dryer (that says One Load a Day ... HA as if that ever happens!) was drenched and there was water behind the washer as well. I just deep cleaned that room on Saturday and ironed my tablecloths down there on Sunday, so I KNEW it had not bee there long. Dennis said to go ahead and do a load and he'd watch it so I was up and down stairs a hundred times getting him tools or taking a turn watching it or taking a tool back or getting another load etc. I did 4 loads of laundry and there was not one leak! I checked this morning and there is a little water leaking from under the washer. There must be a seal that is leaking that does not leak when the water is rushing through it. So maybe I need to do laundry every day????? :noway: Anyway, it's the holidays so of course things are going to happen that never do, but at least it increased my steps! :ohwell:
I also love Leslie's AHA Heart walk @deeder522. When I want a 3 mile walk, that one is almost always my first choice. It is one reason I am not all that fond of using steps as my metric. They really do not work well on my Garmin with any of the walk at home programs. Miles are not perfect either, but they work because I can just subtract the Leslie/Jessica miles from my total Garmin miles for the day and call it good. I am going to continue steps for December as I like the push to get up and move, but I think in January, I am going back to the walk programs and miles. Steps do not keep the weight off like Leslie and Jessica do!
You are doing well this month though. You only have 17 more miles and 7 more Move times and you have 9 more days to do it!! You need to rearrange a few more rooms! Cheers to you! :drinker:
It is supposed to snow tonight into Wednesday. They are predicting 1-3", but the way the storm looks, we are thinking it will be less than 1" where we are. The ice is back on bay and the water is getting "thicker" on the lake. We think the loons have gone as we have not seen or heard them in a week. That is a good sign that the whole lake will be iced over within the week. I love this so much for Thanksgiving as it reminds me of the poem/book Over the River and Through the Wood that my grandfather would read to us every Thanksgiving when I was young. It always seemed so weird when we did not have the "white and drifting snow." It will probably not be "drifting," but we will at least have snow on Thursday!

Well, there is about 3/4" of "mixed precipitation" on the ground. It is mostly sleet and freezing rain and I thought for sure we were going to lose power last night. We ran water (we have a well and the pump is electric), got all the hurricane candle holders and flashlights out, charged up our devices etc and ... NOTHING! Of course this is a good thing, but considering how low the tree branches are bending, surprising. It is supposed to stop by 1 PM and it is going up to 40F so no more snow for us
Today is baking pies and getting everything ready for dinner tomorrow. I should have a ton of steps considering that I will be doing all the last minute prep for guests and a huge dinner. So far, the stevia is working well in place of sugar in the baked goods, but the no salt is making everything kind of bland. I am going to make the gingerbread cookies from the Low Sodium Foodie blog in hope that they will be more flavorful. I have never used a lot of salt in cooking but using no added salt to anything is rough, even for me! I know ... first world problem!
    Enjoy prepping for Thanksgiving!

My sister and brother-in-law will be here around 2:30 so we are planning dinner for 4. We are having:
15 pound turkey (with lots left for me to freeze for Dennis so we can avoid cold cuts which he LOVES but are mostly salt bombs), gravy (no salt) roasted, mashed butternut (no salt), French Kraut (no sugar, no salt), Waldorf salad (no salt), pecan stuffing (no salt), cranberry sauce (no sugar), corn bread (no salt), apple pie ( no sugar) and crustless pumpkin pie (no sugar & no salt). It is going to be the blandest Thanksgiving feast ever!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family @Deeder522!

Thanksgiving went well for us. My Mom ended up being ill so she didn't make it over so it was myself with my boys and the Dads.

Hoping everything turned out well for you @zichab!

Finally, my daily average went over 6500!!! However, yesterday and today will probably set it back, but it was worth it to just visit with family and not be running around!
Things went very well for us @deeder522 thank you. We even got a dusting of snow, which made everything so beautiful out of our guest room windows (there are 3 of them that face the lake). My sister was so excited and she loved it. The food was not as bad as I expected and my sister's sugar readings were stable all day and Dennis' blood pressure readings have actually been lower for the last two days than they were on Wednesday! Since those were the goals, it was worth all the modifications in recipes for sure.
I am so sorry to hear your Mom was sick. That is the worst. It is never pleasant being sick but it is so depressing when it is on a holiday. Hugs to her! I am glad the Dads came anyway as feeding a group of men is always so satisfying. I hope Ryan made it though with no ill effects as I know food is a problem for him.
Steps will be down today because I am chilling with Dennis, but tomorrow, the fall decor comes down and I will start decorating for Christmas. My steps will definitely increase! I need to hang on to get my 6500 average!

I knew yesterday would be bad for steps because Dennis and I just relaxed, watched some TV and ate left-overs. Today though, I am getting my fall and Thanksgiving decor down, decluttering what I did not use and cleaning so I can put up the Christmas decor! I am psyched because last year we were in Netherlands and did not decorate, so it has been a couple of years since I have seen my "treasures." Even last year though, I put up my favorites like the ceramic tree my grandmother made for me, my snow globe Santa & reindeer that my husband gave me and my Victorian village. My son has given me every piece of the village and I treasure it. I even have a Dutch windmill that uses an adapter plug because he got it in the Netherlands and they use different power than we do. Those pieces always go up no matter what. It is going to be a fun weekend for me with lots more steps!

Aww, I love the idea of the Dutch windmill.
I got fall packed away yesterday. We got the little porch Christmas tree out and up this morning but heaven knows what happened to the lights for it. πŸ€”πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ I started putting out the Christmas decor throughout the house. As I'm pulling things out, I'm also setting things aside to get rid of. I'd like to condense what I have so it's easier to store.
I'm feeling sluggish today so I'm resting through the Big UofM game.

It felt good to put away all the fall & Thanksgiving decor as it gave me a lot of "painless" steps yesterday. I declutter as I put decor up and as I pack it up for the next year. If I did not use it this year, it has to really make its case to stay in the bin for next year. The places I decorate are all remodeled now, so there are no excuses. I also will not let my seasonal decor for fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Valentine's Day, St Patrick's Day, Spring and Summer go over 1 medium bin. Only Christmas and Easter have more than 1 bin and for Easter, the second one only houses baskets. I see these folks on You Tube with 10 bins for each season and it stresses me out!
I know exactly how you feel as my day to feel sluggish was on Friday, which is why my steps were down so far. I think it was the crash after the weeks of planning, preparing and executing Thanksgiving. As you are doing it, it seems fun and exciting, but once it is done, the crash is real as well!
UoM is having a great season so far and beating Ohio ... well, that is just expected!

It's a great day to be a Michigan Wolverine!

I think I pretty much have everything out and up. We have a small fiber-optic pear tree and I search yearly for a partridge to put on top.

I need to keep moving today to finish off my Apple Challenge today.

I wish those 8000+ steps showed how many times I went up and down the stairs in this house yesterday!!! Everything I needed was either up or down a floor! :explode:
My foyer is decorated, but I need to get some holiday Christmas covers for the pillows that are on our bench. They were not there last year, and they look a little sad. Amazon can fix that in a week! Otherwise, I decluttered 4 things that we will no longer use. I am on my way to deleting 2 of the 7 bins of Christmas decor! I put the garland on the stair rail and I am not sure that I like it. We used to have a black wrought iron staircase railing and now it is a chunky wood rail with wrought iron posts and the garland just does not look very good. I may ditch it and this is why I had so many steps yesterday! Indecision!

Well, yesterday was a step day for sure! :noway: I did the weekly "high traffic" area house clean and then Dennis and I collected all our trash and recycling and went to the dump. My plan was to continue decorating when we got home, but on the way he says, "I have a dilemma! The trailer is full of wood from that birch that fell down last year that needs to be split and piled, I need to get the snow blower on the tractor and I want to get the mantle on the fireplace before Christmas and I do not know which to do first." It is snowing every day now so the snow blower was top of the list to me. That meant splitting and piling wood yesterday in the snow and cold so we could unhook the trailer and put it away and put the snow blower on the tractor. As a result, I did a ton of walking! Since I was out there anyway, I took the Fall, Thanksgiving and all the fall wreaths to the attic, and Dennis had "a few things" he wanted me to take up as well, which added more steps! All in all, I was exhausted last night and slept for 9 hours!!!! Working in the cold is so tiring and I have no idea how electric line, garbage, water & sewer maintenance people do it!! Bless them!!!!
More decorating today and we are packing to go to Plattsburg (the nearest city to us) overnight tomorrow to shop and get into the Christmas spirit by watching all the hustle and bustle. Dennis also has a Periodontist appointment there on Thursday so it is not a total fun trip. Steps will be more normal today and tomorrow, but hopefully, I will end the month with my average of 6500 steps/day. Fingers crossed!!

Sorry about the double post I thought I had posted, but when I came back to update my steps, it showed in the post box, but not in the forum. Now there are two!

One more day and hopefully, I do enough shopping steps today to make up for all the time in the car! I think I made my goal, but am anxious to see tomorrow when I post my last steps.

Ahh, the last day of November. It's Ryan's birthday today as well. So I don't anticipate much moving today. When you can't go out to eat to drink birthday celebration options are rather limited. At least we had the good news that his inflammation markers are down according to his blood work. I will be taking the birthday boy for a haircut this afternoon.

Looking forward to seeing that final number @zichab !

@Deeder522, indeed December certainly did sneak up on me πŸ€” 🀣! I was totally taken by surprise earlier today when I looked at my phone! I need to turn over our calendars πŸ“† to December now.

I just now posted December's challenge πŸ‘πŸ€ͺ! And now need to finally check in on November πŸ˜πŸ‘Ÿ...

Wow, there are 3 pages of posts for November! I'm so grateful! I'm going to post now and then read through all of November. I may not be able to reply to them, as it is getting late here and I haven't done much today, but I definitely will read every word. Thank you to everyone who posted during November.

For myself, November was thankfully a better month for walking. Other than Sundays/ holidays when I don't keep tabs on my steps or purposely walk, I added in two additional Saturdays of not tracking steps, so thus I took two full weekends off of keeping track of steps and activity.
One was because of a severe muscle cramp episode the Friday before, and the other was noted as just a lighter weekend with some activity, and quite a low count on Friday before. So I evidently needed a lighter weekend for some reason there also.

Again, I'll read through November later on. And am very grateful for you all, and for having this group to be a part of.

WOW! Inflammation numbers being down is such a nice birthday present for Ryan and he got a haircut on top it!!!!!!! Celebrate hard Ryan!

On to a successful Decemebr for us all!!!
