Hi Everyone!

Thanks for understanding that I needed to hit pause briefly. I enjoy my job, but at the end of the day I need to step away from the computer.

This sunrise winter image really strikes a chord with me. I love mornings! They are a daily fresh start and an opportunity to shape the day into whatever I want it to be! Even with shorter days, there is always a sunrise and new opportunities. A new month opens the starting gate for a string of new days!

Let's close out this year building on what we've accomplished in 2023. You may have new goals for this month or you may want to keep working on your goals from previous months. It's a challenging month for sure-- lots of extra food and get togethers-- but with a little bit of planning and some solid healthy habits, we will be well positioned for a terrific 2024!

Let's make it a great month!

Howdy! I’m posting a bit late for the month, but I’ve been working on maintaining my healthy habits.

My special December habit is to bright the Christmas joy every day. That’s been happening.
I’m also trying to stay active. I walk, ride my spin bike, and do yoga most days, Today, I’m starting to add in a short strength workout in a few times per week.

Overeating is my big challenge, and I haven’t decided how to best handle it yet.

My “I WILL” list for the month a little late but…

I will make holiday choices carefully
I will do some form of exercise each day even if unstructured.
I will be grateful for all I and my family has.

So far I have kept my exercise, made good holiday party choices and remember how lucky we are each day even with the little bumps in life.

    Vastly increasing veggies & fruits
    1/2 plate veggies, 1/4 plate fruit/fiber rich carb, 1/4 protein✅

(Eventual goal to have 1/2 my protein from plants but that will be Step 2.)
    Increasing walking distance✅

Vastly decreasing eating out, fat, sodium✅

There are so many really great reasons to eat healthily, move as much as we can, and maintain a normal weight.

Seeing the reality of aging has increased my motivation.

Well here comes the two tough days lol 🎅so far I have kept myself on track a little weight fluctuating but it’s holding fairly steady. Santa didn’t bring a lot of sweet stocking stuffers or bake many cookies most were given away. Focusing on good choices and appreciating family many changes this year but we have all made it. Merry Christmas and if you celebrate a different holiday enjoy and be present with family and friends.🌲

I hope everyone enjoyed whatever celebration you had planned. I have been fortunate to have spent Christmas Day with all my family. I chose not to track, but was mindful of my total calories for the day. We haven’t been able to all be together since before Covid, so it was doubly enjoyable.

Boxing Day we walked along the coastal path with family, then had lunch together. We are hoping to have several more get togethers before two of our grands return to England. I tracked and managed to stay under goal.

I’m mulling over my January habit. 2023 has been passing in a flash. My Solid Habits are fairly comprehensive so my Focus will be to strengthen and consolidate, wherever possible.

I have successfully increased my steps in December.

I pulled out of being the mail sibling handling my Dad’s Cate as it was clearly jeopardizing my health. My brothers have taken over most of it.

I can feel myself slowly recovering from the lengthy stress, which is great. I had been feeling really Overwhelmed by things that used to be “no problem” … I see improvement

My weight went down and up in a 10 day period.,I reminded myself “at least it wasn’t another gain”

Focus: Exercise:continue to increase steps gradually
Whack salt back down (ie eliminate processed & restaurant foods)
Eliminate sugar (eat grapes, cherries, etc instead) My husband & I have agreed to do this as of tomorrow Dec 28. We’ve gradually decreased sugar. And will go to zero tomorrow

Hi all, I did pretty well bringing the Christmas joy and staying active until Covid hit on the day before Eve. Then my daughter with cancer was hospitalized for 3 days.

We still haven’t done our Christmas morning stockings or gifts - maybe we’ll get to it for New Year’s. While I’m recovering, I’m reading a good book all you habit ninjas might like.
Rethink Your Position by Katy Bowman.

It’s hard to believe that 2023 is almost over. I hope that everyone is ready to proceed into 2024 with renewed vigour.

I feel that I accomplished much in 2023. I set some new habits, and worked on consolidating others that have helped me so much in being authentic to my core beliefs. These Solid Habits are integral to my primary goal of staying as fit and healthy as I can.

Knowledge is power! Therefore, tracking and reviewing progress will continue to provide the data I need to continue to move forward into 2024.

I lost a friend on 23 Dec, so am only too aware of the impermanence of life, and making the most of each moment we are granted. Carpe diem!

I’m pleased that things are improving for you, and your brothers have stepped up to help lighten the load of caring for your dad.

Well done on your progress on your goals. It makes such a difference when our life partner is supportive of what we are doing.

@77tes I hope that you are all recovering well, and there are no long term effects from the crud.

@snowshoe072 All we can do is keep trying. Giving up is not an option. 😝

@themedalist I hope you are managing to recharge your batteries. Thank you so much for all you have done for the group. It is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the kind thoughts and wishes. My daughters made it home and we are all feeling better. We will open our presents on New Year’s Day.

I’m reviewing 2023 and I really have accomplished a lot.
    1. Rehabbed from broken ankle - PT really helped me increase my strength and mobility- better than before the break.
    2. Skin cancer gone and I’m taking better care of my skin now.
    3. Got my blood pressure under control. I had to admit that lifestyle changes weren’t enough and started taking meds.
    4. Good bloodwork, showing that my dietary choices are truly healthy. Yay for veggies! 5 Daily journaling.
    5. I came to appreciate that my wimpy yoga practice has really improved my flexibility.
    6. I increased by stamina on the bike.
