Mornin’ gents. Another frosty morning under a clear starry sky. I tried to go for a hike yesterday in the late afternoon, and the dirt road I followed turned out after 1/4 mile to be flooded and washed out, with rapids running across it. Turned around and went back to the car. I heard the Connecticut River is still overflowing from Monday’s rain; we must’ve had a lot, plus the weekend before we had another heavy rain as well.
I have PT today for my hip, and then going to the 100? year old forester’s tree lot to get a Christmas tree, if he’s still around; He was 98 I think last time I went in 2019. DS is having an “Ugly Christmas Sweater Party” tonight, and DD having my kids and GKs to her house tomorrow for a Secret Santa gift swap.
Time for coffee & a bowl of grits.0 -
Good morning!
The dog woke me at 5:20. I took her out and fed her. I tried to lay down again. In 20 minutes she worked twice to get me out of bed. So, here I am. Coffee is brewing and the cat is on my lap helping me type. Sigh... I am very much looking forward to having a four day weekend. I feel over done.
Prayers continue for all.
Have a great day!0 -
Mornin' gents.
17 degrees here. Snap!
LOVING my mattress pad warmer. Not sure if it has anything to do with it, but I have been able to start doing light dumb bell work without excessive muscle soreness and aching. Super excited to start doing light weight training again.
Dave, sure hope this procedure is the ticket for you to get back on the hiking horse. As a surgeon, I feel if you have a surgical problem, waiting is not the answer. Waiting will probably lessen the probability of a good outcome in a case like this. As Bill said, you are in good condition now.
Pain management often rides a fine line between just right and over medicated. And often needs tweaking, backing off or adding on. It can be frustrating, especially if you hate taking any medication like me. I have learned a lot from listening to both you and Sam, Bill.
Prayers for all.
Be OP ;-)

Good morning gentlemen.
Got a letter from my PCM at the Army hospital, about my recent lab tests. Several factors have moved from "normal" to "this is a bit concerning." I think they are likely connected to my lack of exercise. I have always walked a lot, probably averaging around 3 to 5 miles a day. For the last five or six months I haven't averaged that a week. That exercise hasn't been replaced with anything else. As a result, my weight is up 10 lbs. over the same period and now cholesterol and blood sugar are elevated. Diet will help, but I need to get more exercise, too.
Our dry spell passed this morning. It's cold and raining outside. I need to run some errands, anyway. Have to get to the bank, pharmacy and commissary.0 -
Good Morning,
Pablo is doing much better, and so far today has not messed in house.
Eyes are messing up today, dropped a whole cup of coffee this morning; need to learn to use right hand all time. Physical therapy has increased shoulder pain, and they say but look at range; told them when I went in I had great flexibility and range because of yoga and dismissing pain.
Steve, hope you get lots of rest.
Bill, hope this finds you feeling better and pain free.
Prayers continue for Bob and his DW.
Dave, I'm a firm believer that activity helps keep cholesterol and blood sugar in check, each person can choose their activity other than eating.
Mike, so much family; don't see how you keep up; but something to be very grateful for.
Hope all have a very Merry Christmas and remember the reason for the season.0 -
Gosh aches, pains, sleep issues. The usual for this group of late.
Good luck with the surgery Dave!! I have a pre-op appointment for my two left eye surgeries in one day coming up. Placing a stent for glaucoma and doing cataract surgery in the same left eye too. The recovery time is suppose to be the same if you do one of these eye surgeries or two in one day.
DW is doing "miraculously" well with her broken rib recovery. Very pleased.
Yikes Sam dropping coffee can't be fun.
Hang in there all!0 -
Good Morning
Bob, I am pleased to hear of your DWs recovery going well as Christmas draws near
Sam, Your post yesterday about pain and lack thereof at our age gave me a well needed laugh. I am sorry to hear about the coffee etc.
I had a bit of a rough night staying asleep but did manage to wake up to an alarm. Tramadol is a bit of a rougher ride but seems to be manageable and more flexible then Belbuca. FitBit is in denial that I slept at all. Today we are off to find some Christmas things we thought we had left in a hope chest, but apparantly packed. Thankfully, my boxes are somewhat well labeled. But our stockings and table runners etc would be nice to have out. Then it is pedal to the metal for getting organized for the Holiday.
The prayer list for this group is ponderous at times! But God is faithful.0
