A 2-day break with me. I had a nice lunch with my Dad, his 2 sisters, and their Aunt. I feel confident I'll finish off JS WnT this week though.
The snow makes everything so bring. I find that I wear my sunglasses just as much in the winter as I do in the Summer.

We're looking at a warming trend this week and all the snow will start to melt away.

Kind of a dull Sunday of book reading around here. At -7F, there is not a lot more to do! We are getting snow Mon, Tues, & Wednesday. It is going to rain, Thurs & Fri and then snow again on Saturday! So much for the January thaw!
I won't finish this week, but I will next week and I already have my tentative plan for Feb. Now that Dennis can do his cardio rehab in town, I have more time to focus on my "cardio rehab" at home!

    January Goals

Apple New Year challenge - Close all Rings 7 days in a row.✅
Apple January Challenge - 3 Walking workouts of 5 minutes or more.✅
Walk n Talk Challenge - Complete Jessica Smth's Walk N Talk series this month. 16 /21
    Mileage Tracked - 59 Miles

I woke up to some flurries and another ER call from a client. My walk will have to happen tonight.
Speaking of Feb. What is your plan @zichab ? I'm trying to figure mine out.

Ryan had a small flare-up of lymphedema. We've never seen it since he lost all the weight. So we are backing off the salt intake for a few days. It's slowly getting better as we can start to see his ankles again and feel the bones in his feet. Random occurrence from what we can tell. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Oh no! Poor Ryan! I am glad backing off the sodium helped.
Funny you should ask as I just worked out my plan for February tonight while I was watching Dateline  I need to be scheduled to stay on track. So, I am going to up the time, switch to miles and work out MWF and then either Sat or Sun for a total of 4 days each week. I have 4 of Leslie's 30 minute, 2 miles walks and there are some on You Tube. I'd like to hit a 3 mile daily goal, but it may just average out to that. We'll see how it goes. I am also going back to logging everything for a minimum of 4 days each week. I have been sporadic this month and I have to get back on track. I finally have a smart phone so I really do not have any excuse to be honest. So, that is the plan!
Dull day around here. Laundry, cleaning, reading and Dateline!

I did a bunch of errands this morning and then a bunch of IT work this afternoon. That filled my day but I got to JS after dinner.
The temperature is rising and we had a freezing rain come through this morning. We have Dense fog alerts for tomorrow. I saw 4 cars in the ditch doing errands this morning. Glad I wasn't one of them.
Tonight, I lived and tried plant-based sour cream. So far my body doesn't seem to be rejecting it. Flavor wasn't too bad either a little more mellow than normal sour cream.

I was vegan for a hot minute a few years ago when Dennis was at the lake for a month after I came home to MI. Some of the vegan stuff was pretty good if you accepted it on its own merit, rather than expecting it to be an exact substitute for something else. I imagine a vegan sour cream would be like that. Vegan cheese I could not do, :noway: but I did learn to really like Nutritional Yeast and I still use it on my omelettes. I also learned to love edamame and that has become part of our regular diet now also. Without Dennis, I think I could have figured out how to be totally vegan, but he was not on board with that. Thankfully, neither of deal with food sensitivities (probably from be brought up on farms and having to eat and drink raw everything!!!). My son, however has the dairy sensitivity and has to be very careful.
Dull round here today again. More cleaning, a bit of snow and trip to town so a neighbor could pick up his car. We're getting snow all night, nothing tomorrow, so we are going to get all of our errands done as the freezing rain is moving in tomorrow night from the Midwest. Thanks for sharing! The lake is frozen and has a good 18" of snow on it. It is going to absorb all this rain like a sponge and we are going to have super high water in the spring!!! Holy Moley!!! Our dock might not go in until July!

Dear Lord it is raining ... like crazy ... in January!!!! :grumble: It is going to be in the 40s for the rest of the week. We just went to Saranac Lake where they have a Winter Carnival every winter with an ice palace. They have the the first 5 rows of blocks up that have been harvested from the lake, but 40F for 4 days will definitely slow down that progress. This was last year's palace to give you an idea of what they do. It is n=made of blocks of ice cut from the lake and it is all done by volunteers. It is amazing.

Busy today as Dennis went to his first cardio rehab in town and LOVED it!!! He said the facilities are much better and without all the attached wires, he is freer to move, so he is happy. We got hair cuts and then went to Saranac Lake to Dollar Tree for Valentine & St Patrick decorations, a hardware store for metric wrenches and groceries. When we got back, Dennis blew some snow away from the house, garage and shed so the rain water is channeled away from the buildings. I never like rain, even in summer, but in winter it can cause us a ton of headaches. Tomorrow I am going to deep clean my bedroom so I will not care about the rain!

Yesterday was very blah for me. I didn't even close any of my rings.
Today, however, I woke up and got right to JS. Washed some dishes and scheduled 2 clients for the afternoon.
I'm having my morning tea, Jasmine today. I also finished off the other half of the smoothie I made yesterday.

We did a little roof raking and took down the ice to help with this warm-up. The Gutters are flowing steadily here.

Finally, 7 days of logging every day. I hope I can keep it up in February.
All we did today was open a small ditch that goes across our driveway to make sure the water had a place to go that was NOT our garage! We are going to put in a drain culvert this year because this problem keeps getting worse. When the town ran the sewer lines to our house (bless them for that by the way as we were on septic :grumble:), they cut off some of the natural underground drainage and although they tried to fix it, it has not been a long term solution. Tomorrow, we are under a warning for freezing rain and ice so we will have a skating rink in our driveway. I am not sure which is worse. In any event, it is not snow and that is a bummer!
I mostly cleaned today! My side of our bedroom had become a small library and I needed to get the books back downstairs where they belong. I also had not put all the regular decor back since Christmas as I like to live with the bare furniture for awhile and let the house breath. So, I got all the decor out of our room as well. Dust bunnies accumulate after 2 months of minimal cleaning and too much stuff in the room! Meh, it's all good as it will not go anywhere without me!

I got going with Jessica this morning, again. I've been busy with work most of the day. It's a working weekend for Ryan as he's doing an e-mail migration for a client. So I'll stay out of his hair for most of it. Lunch with a friend tomorrow and the Lions Sunday night.

I still have the itch to clean but cold weather puts a hitch in it. My trash can not take everything I want to throw out so it's a little bit each week.

Oh WOW, I never heard of that. In Grand Blanc, our trash company would take as much as we put out. If we put out furniture, they asked that we call a day or two before to let them know it would be there, but we were not limited at all. Here we can take as much as our truck will hold and we are willing to pay for, which is really nice considering how much remodeling we have done. As I learn this house and how we live in it, I am donating more and more as well and our donation center also takes almost everything. Speaking of our dump, we were supposed to go today, but I am not going to a transfer station in the freakin' rain and that is all it did all day!!! We are almost down to the stones in our driveway :grumble:!
Bless Ryan!!! I HATE email transfer and have always kept my inbox as empty as possible to avoid having to do it. My Mott email finally went away which has saved me hours of deleting useless email.
No rain is predicted for tomorrow!!!

Gosh everything is such a mess here! We have slushy dirty snow and ice, water over ice and bare stones showing through in our driveway. We were going to go the dump today and decided against it because it is no doubt a muddy mess there. I am over this stupid thaw :grumble:
On a happier note, I am down 2 pounds this week. When I log, I lose, but I still HATE doing it!!! I am choosing to believe it is my 15 minute walks!!!
We burned through a lot of our wood during the cold snap so we are going to bring in more tomorrow before it gets super cold again. It is supposed to snow in the late after noon. We'll see

I was lazy today and skipped my walk. I had lunch with a friend today. Tomorrow I'm seeing another friend for the big game. I hope to get my walk in tomorrow. I haven't gotten on the scale again. I'll see that the end of the month.

Geez, maybe I should have started January with this one? Only 1 more to go and I may take a break from Jessica tomorrow. I was very tired today for no real reason, so maybe I need a rest day.
Let's face it @Deeder522, the scale is not our favorite thing to check on that is for sure. I do it once a week so when it goes up I can just say, "ah water retention! Better drink more water next week." :blushing: I need to check it every week because I am a horrible procrastinator.
OMG that game!!!!!! You do not take chances in a championship game ... you go for the sure thing!!! What were they thinking!!!! Two field goals just given away on a "chance" of a TD??? NOOOOOOO!!!! I was so disappointed, but you can tell the Lions are going to get better. They have all the basics and skills they just have to work on being consistent. My students always called them the "Losing Lions of Thanksgiving," but I do not think that will work next season. I was really looking forward to the Super Bowl with the Lions and the Chiefs though -gotta say! Bummer!
We brought in wood today and loaded the truck for the dump tomorrow. Hopefully, the mud there has frozen and we can get rid of all this recycling.

I know I need 1 more walk, but I need to do 2 more so I can begin my 2 miles walks every other day on Feb 2. As a result, I thought maybe a rest day might be good today and then I can finish January with 2 of Jessica's Walk & Talks because Feb will begin with a Thursday rest day.
We'll see how Feb goes, but I am hoping that I have established the habit of walking every evening after dinner and that I can keep it up. I am also thinking that I MIGHT make the Sat or Sun option a 3-5 mile walk. We'll see how it goes. I am so happy you suggested this Challenge @Deeder522 as it has brought back my discipline and my enjoyment of fitness walking. I know you have struggled a bit, but you have a lot on your plate and I think you have done super in spite of it all. Do you have an idea about what you want to do next month?
We finally made it to the dump this morning!!! We are weird people who make an outing of a dump run! :ohwell: We also went to Aubuchon and got fire starters and some electrical stuff Dennis needed to fix our Christmas tree star, which chose this year to die! :grumble: Other than that, I washed all 8 of our huge windows that face the lake (currently frozen of course). Kind of an everyday day!

    January Goals

Apple New Year challenge - Close all Rings 7 days in a row.✅
Apple January Challenge - 3 Walking workouts of 5 minutes or more.✅
Walk n Talk Challenge - Complete Jessica Smth's Walk N Talk series this month. 21 /21
    Mileage Tracked - 78 Miles

Yesterday I dragged all day. Sunday I was up later than normal b/c of the game ( also ate poorly and drank). I slept poorly that night. That meant I spent Monday functioning on about 4 hours of sleep. I slept better last night and slept in a bit. So I'm much better today.
Ah the Game: It honestly went how I kind of expected. We came out aggressively and in charge and I figured after half time the other team would try and rally. They did. Can't change the outcome but what A GREAT SEASON! I had a great night out with friends to watch the game. I can now go back to not caring about football for 8 months. 😝

I'm considering a mix of 1 & 2 Mile walks next month. Mixing in JS & Leslie. I also have the Miracle Miles series and thought about doing a rotation of that just keeping to the lower-mile walks. I searched through JS workouts and put together a small arm workout collection too.

I can't believe we've reached the end of January!

I have the Miracle Miles set as well, but never really got into it. Maybe I need to take another look at it this month. I may rotate that one in and see if it grows on me.
Sadly, I have had to give up my daily glass of wine because it was really giving me sleep problems as well. I fell asleep great, but woke up after an hour or two and could not get back to sleep and then I'd fall asleep about an hour before I needed to get up. I thought it was a menopause symptom I never had before, but NOPE it turned out to be my wine. SOOOOO, I have been dry for most of the month, have been sleeping much better and have a ton of energy. It could be an age thing as it never bothered me before. Gotta love your 70s!!!! :grumble:
I can't believe January is almost over either. I started out slow, but have been feeling great these last few weeks. February always goes by fast for us because we have our Anniversary, Valentine's Day and the Super Bowl all in one month and it is usually a short month besides. This year we get 29 days though! Woo Hoo

I'm glad I got all my challenges down before the 31st. It was a "*kitten* it the fan" kind of day for work. lol Luckily, Ryan & I were in sync on how to handle the situation but it did tie us to the computers for most of the day.

I dusted off my old step aerobics "Step" just to see if I could step up again. Looks like I can. Jenny Ford still has some of her step videos up on her YouTube page so I might add 4 step videos to next month's rotation. It would be a nice change to the marching in place. So maybe I'll be doing a 3 workout a week variety for February since it's a short month to try something new.

I am kind of happy with January even though I did not meet all of my goals, I did much better than I expected and I think it was the Jessica Challenge. It got me back in the groove of a "work out" on a daily basis and established a habit of heading downstairs after dinner. I am looking forward to February now!
I never got a step or did any step aerobics. I think that was popular before I was into working out regularly. I have a broad selection of hand weights and work out bands though, all thanks to Leslie.
I think I am going to rotate Miracle Miles in on either the Sat or Sun walk because it includes some strength, which I need to get back to. It is time to push a little bit.
Every year the Northern Challenge Fishing Derby is held on our lake and is the largest one in the Northeast with over 40K in prizes. It was supposed to be held on Saturday, but they had to cancel it today because the ice is too thin! The lake ice has just not recovered from a week of 38-45F days sadly. Global warming :grumble:
On to February and some serious fitness and weight loss, or size loss. I'll take either one!
