Day 1: The Holidays kinda sucked, weight-wise! +7 pounds since Thanksgiving. But I signed up for the Conqueror Challenges this morning and started walking the path of the Hobbits in Fellowship of the Rings. Glad to see people joining in, I figure I will be posting daily distance totals starting tomorrow........ since I will not know the totals until then!

Day 2: Back to the grind. Winter Break is over and now to see how the steps go at school (No, I am not a student, I teach 7th and 8th-grade science). The day is looking good so far, so maybe I can get a couple thousand steps in during lunch! Oh, by the way, Holly, Nice job, 28K on day one! We MIGHT need to double your distance! :D

Thanks @LordWulfram . Since I was off work all day yesterday I was able to get out and walk and walk and walk. Back to the grind today, but I do try and get 3 - 5 miles/5 - 8 km a day Very cool that you are a science teacher. I work for an educational testing company which develops the statewide assessments that students have to take and my area of expertise is Earth Science. I am a geologist by education. :)

Cool, I have spent several summers in Montana digging Mammal fossils at the K-Pg boundary.

Day 3: Being a teacher does help a little, I had 9K done yesterday before I left school, add a 1-mile walk when I get home, bingo! 11K. Looks like I might need to up my game a little, though, if I want to keep up with my new friends!

Way back when, my major was Geology, I had to leave though to come home and help take care of my dad. Then life just happened, worked-met a woman-had a kid(well, she did), and 20 years later I went back to school just to get my Associates Degree.

Day 4: WOW. Ok, this is definitely reaching Twilight Zone levels of weird! At least we know we have a common topic to discuss! :-) Has either of you seen the guy online using the Grand Canyon as evidence that the Earth is only 6000 years old?

On another note, increasing ones' steps by 2-3K per day has taken its first turn. I woke up this morning and stepped out of bed and it felt like someone drove an ice-pick through the side of my right foot. Funny thing is that after a hot shower and walking a little, it stopped........ Any ideas?

@peoriapole , that makes three of us rock jocks!

@LordWulfram , sorry, I have no idea but that doesn't sound good. My feet were hurting pretty badly when I got finished hammering out miles yesterday so I'm giving myself a break today. I'll be lucky to break 15,000 steps. I'll have to look up that geologist online, I haven't seen him but seriously? 6000 years old!

@HollyStormCloud, Yep. He believes that there is no way for a schist layer to be flat with sandstone layered on top that could be millions of years apart. Instead, he suggests that the schist was there, then all the sand and materials that form the Grand Canyon were deposited by "The Flood" then another smaller flood created the canyon itself. They are fun to watch, kind of like watching the movie "Dante's Peak" (1997), exactly how many things can they get wrong at one time!?

Day 5: Good Friday morning from the Pacific Northwest. Last day of the week, but as normal, my weekend has already stacked up. From taking my son to get his eyes checked to going to my parents to working my second job, my weekend is full. At least I know I will not be bored!

Day 6: Saturday...... well, this should be interesting. How does a "Honey Do" list day compare to a work day. Lots of errands to do, we shall see what the steps look like this afternoon

Day 6: Saturday - Woke up to rain, rain, rain this morning and was concerned that it would kill my steps today, but fortunately it stopped around 9am and the sun is shining. Time to hit the road! Have a great weekend everyone!

@LordWulfram , you and I are at opposite sides of the country (diagonally)! I'm on the Florida Gulf Coast! :)

@HollyStormCloud Well, that is where my heart and football loyalties lay. Born in Winter Haven and been a Buccs fan since '76!

Nice to see another Buc's fan. I jumped on board in '79...I got to see their two pre-season games with my brother. I was made fun of for so many years here in "Bears" country, now my favorite thing to do is ask them how many Super Bowls wins do they have.

I normally struggle to get in my steps on the weekend, but yesterday we did a lot around the house and my wife wanted to shopping. So out into the snow/rain we went and hit 4 stores until she found what she wanted. Definitely helped get my steps in.

    Have a great week!

    Matt

Wow, the three of us are all geology majors and all Bucs fans! :)
I moved to The Burg in 1984 and I've been a Bucs fan ever since. I've only ever been to one actual game (because I have an aversion to crowds), and sadly it was one they did not win.
