Learning to use Shiratake noodles (the brand I purchased is Its Skinny Pasta noodles packed in water).
Microwaving just causes the noodles to ooze water...gonna try dry frying in a pan. 0 points. The fettuccine noodles look like tapeworms. So far, the angel hair Shiratake noodles have best look and texture.
I must be looking old...clients keep asking if I am retiring.
Good advice from Sam, adjusting your schedule to Frankie is the other option. You need sleep.
I think that the doctors have to recommend or offer therapies that have shown best results based on studies. That doesn't mean the therapy is going to be right for you right now, or ever. Good job on doing your homework (so very important and so easy to do these days) and weighing the pros and cons.
Watched a 2006 movie called The Guardian yesterday. Think Officer and a Gentleman remake Coast Guard style. Meh.
How are you feeling, Dave?
Onward and downward ;-)

Good morning gentlemen.
I watched a video on those Shirataki noodles, and they said to wash them thoroughly, then dry fry until they squeak.
I am in pain. But it seems a bit better this morning than yesterday, maybe. And I only got up four times to use the toilet, rather than 15. I will diagnose that as a decrease in inflammation and swelling. What do you think, Doc? My biggest problem, now, is constipation. Haven't had a movement since Monday. I'm taking a stool softener twice a day, but it hasn't had the desired effect, yet. I'll move on to something stronger, soon.
DS and family will come over tonight. It will be nice to have some company.0 -
Pain meds are known for causing constipation and believe you will need laxative or possibly an enema beats straining with back.
Starting out at 43 sunny this morning, will enjoy today cold comes back tomorrow0 -
Prunes are my go-to.
17º now, diving to 9º by tomorrow morning.
Fishing partner says he saw an ice fisherman in a nearby town yesterday. No signs here yet, and we are highest elevation in the area. Hoping another few days of deep freeze should bring some safe ice.
Dave, glad to hear you made it home intact and are recovering. Will they do some rehab or aftercare, or is this normally just heal up and start back to normal life again?
Have a good day everyone.0 -

Oh yeah Dave constipation w opioids in particular is a huge deal for me too. I wish they had mentioned that more thoroughly before my eye surgery. There was a mention in one of the pre-op paperwork about maybe taking a "stool softener" ahead of time but not really emphasized. I think I just did my now usual prunes and prune juice . Uh that didn't work!! I finally followed up with Senokot S plus a dose of Senna tea later too.
Yeah Dave I did in a sense move on to something stronger at some point and then resisted trying to counteract a bit of overkill. I use to find yers ago that taking one Senokot S for each pill dose of opioids seemed to be about right for me. In my case I was supposed to avoid constipation "at all costs" to prevent added stress to my eye pressure. HRMPH!!
We are having a very slow (for us) warm up and melt of neighborhood snow and ice. 33-35 degrees and no sun is slow to melt indeed. No plowed residential streets so filled with slushy snow and ice . Hopefully melted aplenty by Saturday some time.
DD finally had school cancelled at 5 am this morning as buses etc would be unsafe in neighborhoods. As a teacher ahe went back to bed at 5 am after listening to the closure.
Hang in there everybody for sure.
Oh my waiting until the Shirataki noodles talk back to me "squeak squeak" sounds almost like an opioid trip! haha0 -

Good Morning
Yeah, when I was on Oxy after my knee replacement I had to use stool softener a few times. I always worried I would take too much and swing the pendulum the other way. Thanks to radiation I am keeping the Imodium close, though I have the same concern. Radiation appt was cancelled this morning, the machine is down. I was kinda looking forward to todays. It sits exactly at the midpoint of the treatment schedule. I am eager to be on the downward slope of the treatments. Just numbers but yet.....0 -
I have been taking a stool softener twice a day for three days. Took senna tea yesterday. Took two laxative pills this morning. Still no joy. But I think I will stop the oxycodone and just take ibuprofen from here on out. And I just took a sedate walk around the block (.3 mile) too. Movement should help movement, I hope.
Seeing Pablo put a smile on my face. Have to love our pups.0
