    Good morning!

Frankie got me up at 4:00 this morning. She heard Connie get up, so she figured that I needed to be up. She also ate something and had several trips outside during the night that Collin took care of.

We may be over simplifying, but we believe that Collin is stuck at age 17 which is where he was when his brother was killed.

I'm hearing great news about hikes, and forward movement. That's awesome!

    Have a great day!

Glad you got out yesterday, Mike. Good job listening to your body and slowing it down a bit.
Great advice about my DS#1 and DDIL, Sam. They definitely need counseling.
That may be true about Collin, Steve. But I agree that you have to get tougher with him. I know you and Connie love him fiercely and it will be hard on you too.

    Onward and downward ;-)

Interesting article on "US Retirement age"

Not sure I agree with blaming our generation for the crisis.

    Mornin'

Spent yesterday clearing trash out of DS's apartment and repairing things at EX's house where he is moving in. Stressful, but it is satisfying to tinker with stuff and get it working again. Put in a new ceiling light at the top of the stairs, hung a closet pole in the basement for overflow coats and sweatshirts, screwed a sewing machine table back together so the machine won't fall out and break someone's toe or give a toddler a concussion. Sometimes DS seems irresponsible for a 47 year old, but then I remember he's working and trying to study for a nursing degree while he swims and runs regularly and deals with the life of a liver transplantee--dozens of pill bottles, trips to the ER, etc.

Dave, that's a very significant hike for anyone; especially after zero hiking for quite a while. Easy does it. Please don't hurt yourself, and think of the long term benefits of being cautious now. You'll be back in the clouds soon enough.

Lee, hope your loved ones get a little help there and not let things go too far. Besides counselling, there is a program I've heard good things about, Retrouvaille, which works with couples who are floundering in their marriages. Wish it was around before my marriage blew up.

Sam, give my condolences to Pablina...

    Good morning gentlemen.

No ill effects from yesterday's hike, at all. Can't wait to get out again. I need to keep working on the uphill work. Cross training helps, too. When the weather gets better, I need to get out on my bike to build up my quads.

I scoff instantly, when the guy saying workers need to work longer is a wealthy suit. The only reason SS is short of funds is the limit on who pays. Lift the cap and all issues go away. Since 1980 average pay, adjusted for inflation, hasn't grown at all, while richest 10 percent are up 2,000 percent. Our wealthy pay the lowest taxes of any country in the developed world. Just saying.

Rain is back, today, so we'll see what Rita wants to do.

    Good Morning

I have a hard time listening to a billionaire counsel us on how long we should keep working. I will leave it there.

Lee, it must be hard to see a couple struggle early in there marriage, though it is very common. Sometimes they have to rediscover in the midst of the disagreements and emotional turmoil whether the still love each other despite not having any answers right now. That alone is the one answer that leads to healing and strength for the journey ahead.

Heading out today to Berkeley for a hot dog after reading an article by our local PBS station about a spot in Berkeley. I love a got hot dog. Back in NY and Philly many a cheap lunch would be enjoyed at the local HD cart on the corner. Thankfully she loves me enough to go along me on this. There is no wisdom in this. My gut is still not completely recovered from radiation but I believe a good ‘dog will bring healing and calm to it. Screw science

Sam, I forgot to address your question yesterday abouy when or if to neuter a male dog. Usually I recommend waiting until the dog is sexually mature. My guess is that would be around 8 minths for Pablo. I think that neutering is optional for males. If the dog isn't being a knucklehead, I would probably encourage not neutering.
    I agree, Dave.
Thanks, Mike. Just spoke to DS#1, he feels much better after taking a beat. But I definitely feel like they could use some counseling.
