    April Goals

    Miles tracked: 73 / 70 ✅
Apple Challenge: Close all my rings 8 times. ✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅
Earth Day Challenge: 30-minute workout of my choosing. ✅
International Dance Day Challenge: 20-minute Dance workout. ✅

Looks like I finished April stronger than I thought I would even with extra rest days. 😊
The forecast is mostly rain this week. I think we've hit a period in Michigan where we need heat in the morning and A/C for the afternoon. Temperature is on a minor rollercoaster where it can't decide to be in the 60s or the 70s
This past Saturday, I crashed and barely did anything unless I absolutely had to. I've had a couple of good sleeps now so I'm better. Ry is still recovering. His arms and legs feel better but his core is still pretty weak. Hopefully, by the end of the week, he'll be back to his baseline.

Well, I got into the biography of Abigail Adams on Saturday and I could not put it down!!! What a fascinating lady she was. I thought it might be a book that I read and then donate to my local library, but no way! I am keeping it and reading it again. She was a pistol for sure. So, I managed exactly 1. 2 miles all weekend! Ryan walked more than I did this weekend!
The only way to diagnose mitochondrial disease for sure it with genetic testing. My sister became symptomatic when she was 35. The first manifestation of it was cold urticaria. She would get hives on any part of her body that got cold and then get nauseous and if the cold was too widespread, pass out. They gave her an epi pen for the hives and that was it. Eventually, that passed and she found she could not eat bread or cereal or any grain. So she went on a very low grain diet and that worked for about a year. Then, she could not walk more than a few feet before she got faint and nauseous. Then, she could walk without nausea, but she fell asleep as soon as she sat down no matter where she was, including on a bench at the mall! Then, all kinds of food made her sick, but the type would change around. (I should say that by this time she was in her 50s with multiple diagnoses and two doctors had told her to find someone else as they felt she simply "did not want to work." Like I said, we will all be diagnosing, prescribing and doing surgery on ourselves in 5 years! So much for the "healing profession.") Finally, she found an MD who took her seriously, had a muscle biopsy done and found abnormalities in the cells and sent her to a geneticist. That lady finally diagnosed mitochondrial disease and it is all through our family. Sadly, there is nothing she can do but treat the symptoms, but at least she knows what it is and is not so scared anymore.
Now that we know what it is, we recognize it in many of our relatives dead and alive. It seems the oldest child never has it and that is me. My son also does not exhibit any signs of it nor does my sister's oldest daughter. But subsequent children do seem to exhibit the signs. The problem for medicine is that like CFS, the symptoms are all over the place and unless you have clear, discreet, and repeating symptoms that they have a test for (like COVID), or that the pharmaceutical companies have developed a drug for, you are a malingerer who does not want to work. And yes, my neighbor was home the very night she had brain surgery. I know people recover faster at home, but geez .... brain surgery???? Dennis had to stay over night for a simple stent for heaven's sake. :ohwell:
I've got to think about May now. I am not going to exceed my March mileage because apparently I CAN'T do anything for 8 days straight!

I woke up to temps in the mid 55's so I took the opportunity to walk at the park for 1 ¼ miles. I picked up some fresh eggs from the neighbors and now I'm home for the day until my late afternoon appointment at the Chiropractor.

The last month flew by. Fingers crossed May will be good for both of us. 😊

Welcome @1PoisonIvy, I really like your name B) and your photo of the bluebonnets is gorgeous! I did not see many bluebonnets this year only because I was not out and about much where I would normally have seen them this past month. So I'm super grateful to see your beautiful photo!
@Deeder522, We were told that we had to pay the feds, then this week we got a small refund check! That was a complete surprise and a first for that sort of surprise! We have no state income tax here, so all is well on that front o:) .
Oh, my goodness, that had to be just awful and very frightening when your husband crashed at the center, from your description of it. I am so sorry that happened like that as you described it.
Thank you for the link to the youtube workout! I just bookmarked it for later.
Well done with your excellent finish to your month with all those Apple Challenges being more than met!! Excellent!
@zichab, I was so happy to read about your best day with such a positive medical report for your DH!! And now he can be scheduled for his knee replacement surgery!!! (imagine a thousand exclamation points here!). We seemed to be getting a lot of rain this month, I haven't checked if we are actually getting a lot this spring, or it just seemed so :p .
I loved the eclipse stories here! The darkness during the totality was truly amazing. I had heard that the birds would react to the eclipse by singing like it was morning. And that was what I was most surprised about. It was amazing and a blessing to have experienced this even though I was watching a news program broadcasting in real time about what was going on during the eclipse, because it was very cloudy here, so I could not see the eclipse itself, but we did have the darkness.
April was finally a better month for me. I either walked outside, or was active inside by walking/ house work, or I worked outside some in the yard or garden. I only missed one day that I did not record a walk or some other activity/ exercise. It has taken some months to recover from the terrible pain etc from what was most likely an arthritis flare up in my left leg/ ankle and foot earlier this year.
Thank you to @Deeder522 and @zichab for holding down the fort here again.
