Scooting off to DS's to dog-sit for next 4 days. Hope not to get caught in morning traffic. I'll be driving them to the airport when I get there. He made a dozen short videos instructing me how to take care of Rory... They're going to FL to visit DDIL's parents with the GKs. I'm bringing my piano tools with me to work on regulating the action (hammers and keys) and do a fine-tuning.

Have to run. May not be checking in till I get back...

    Good morning!

Mike, prayers for your eyes. I'm glad they didn't find anything serious.

Bob, prayers for you as you undergo your treatment.

Well, it is now official. I spoke with the company president yesterday about my retirement. I am retiring on June 19. He is going to immediately start finding my successor so that I have as much training time as needed. I am thankful that he is supportive. I am not sure how he sensed that I was retiring, as I was going to tell him next week. I didn't think I was sending those vibes, but maybe I was. I have applied for social security beginning in July. We still need to sign Connie up. I have found some medical insurance that will carry me for the 10 months until I qualify for medicare. We have our house paid for, and only owe less than $3000 on my car. We have money in 401(k) and savings. We are ready for this new chapter in our lives. I had wanted to work longer, but I am afraid that my health won't support it. I am worried that if I continue to work and stress and commute that I won't have any life left in me to enjoy retirement. I feel like my resilience is gone. I feel exhausted all of the time, and that exhaustion goes beyond sleep apnea. Losing more than 20 pounds has helped, but only some. So. I am going to do what I can to have as much prepared for my successor as I can. I am starting to shift my mindset from working to not working. 46 years of full-time work is enough.

    Have a great day!

Yes, so glad your eyes are OK, Mike. LOLed about the videos on how to care for the dog.
Glad the president is supportive. Good for you!

    Good morning gentlemen.

Good for you, Steve. Now you have to get Connie ready to have you under foot all the time.

It was great to get out for another hike, yesterday. This one taxed me a bit. It was one of my favorites - 14 miles, with 1,300 feet of vertical - but it left me pretty sore. I feel fine this morning, though. Still some patches of snow way up the canyon and I found the tracks of a small bear.

Shop time, today, along with some yard work.

    Good Morning

Just back from taking Heather to Oakland Airport for a visit to her twin sister in Minneapolis to spend some Grand Aunt time for a week. Incredibly crowded but she made her boarding time. Home by 6:45am. Visit with Surgeon went great after the 80min wait. It turns out he repaired a small hernia tear instead of the partial discectomy. I was a bit drugged when he first explained. Got the big move up to 15lbs lifting, 20 in a pinch. Still no twisting and turning. Got another lesson in proper lifting. Still no stretching beyond a seated hammie stretch. But now I get to ramp up cardio preferably in a gym on a combination of treadmill, elliptical or vertical bike. The target is 150-250min/week ramped up. Some outdoor walking on top of that until I get stronger. But it will be a full 6 months before all restrictions.are removed. I am more than thrilled with the results. If I can keep the cancer from causing trouble we are on our way.
