    Mornin'

Up at 4:00 for no good reason, but wide awake...

Eye doc again this morning, but this time for new Rx and glasses.

Went for a nice hike/walk late yesterday, 3 miles on a dirt road in the Quabbin wilderness. Nice piece of forest with a remote pond and the 20-mile long reservoir at the halfway point. Peaceful place to visit. Found the lonely remains of a home on a side trail--old stone fireplace and chimney standing by itself in a grove of trees.

May continue work on EX's old piano today if she's not home. It's a cluttered mess and noisy when the work is being done. I sort of hope one of my grandkids will become interested in piano tuning and technology by watching me work. We have five pianos in the family, and I hope to pick up a few more as time goes on. Three of the GK's take lessons so far.

112º is waaay to hot for me. I'd be carried away on a stretcher.

Steve, eyeglass story kind of funny, but I once knocked my glasses off and nearly broke them while camping. Tried to get a rope over a branch by throwing a rock tied to the rope, and unknowingly stepped on the end of the rope. Rock came springing back and hit me in the face. Knocked glasses off and couldn't see to look for them on the ground in the dark. Found them finally, but one lens was missing. Found the lens but couldn't see to put it back in. Long night in the north woods, but eventually okay.

Have a good day everyone. Onward and downward.

I need blood for PSA pulled this morning. Urology appt next week.
Did I mention that the biopsy the dermatologist took came back positive for basal cell carcinoma? I gotta go back in for complete excision and that should be curative.
Fun times with modern medicine, Bill.
Shared a couple of pints of Guinness with the corporate practice supervisor last night. He has 10 practices and I think our young partner doctor is providing 90% of his grief. He had to lay it on the line a couple of months ago, and she has been doing better since but had a little bit of a brewhaha with the staff whilst I was away. I told him that I felt that she was going in the right direction, but it was going to take some time. At least she is showing up and seeing clients. He asked me if I thought she could lead the practice if I dropped dead, and I said no, but I didn't plan on dropping dead. So there is that.
Hope you are padding the grand's college funds with winnings in Vegas, Dave. Or at least paying for Sassy's boarding bill.
I hate wearing glasses, but I think I would hate contacts more. I wear retainer straps on my glasses when doing outside activities to prevent expensive accidents.
I would only make that trip if it was a day event and I was going to spend the night, Mike.

    Onward and downward ;-)

    Good morning!

I was able to get the kayak out yesterday. What a difference it makes going on a weekday morning! There were no power boats, and it was very peaceful. I am WAY out of shape. I left the kayak out in the truck, and I want to go again this week. I have been five times in five years. That is changing now. With the weight that I have lost, it was easy getting in and out of the kayak.

We are starting a string of weather where the prediction is at least a week of highs in the 90s. Heat index will be at or above 100 starting tomorrow. Yuck.

It still feels like I'm on vacation, and there is a part of my brain that thinks I need to go back to work soon.

Prayers for medical tests and healing that all goes well.

    Have a great day!

    Good morning gentlemen.

The heat isn't too big a problem, here. Even though we walked eight miles, yesterday, most of it was in conditioned air. It's funny: the air inside gets to be a bit too cool (Rita carries a light sweater to put on), so when you step outside the heat feels good - for about 100 feet, then you can't wait to get back inside.

We're both down a bit - so no additions to the college funds. Well within our budget, though, and we're having fun. We hoped to see Bruno Mars, tonight, as this is our anniversary. Unfortunately, the cheapest two tickets they had would cost us $1,200. That's too much for cheap folks like us.

Cataract surgery is better than any glasses or contacts. Now I buy readers at Costco, but have 20/15 vision at everything over three feet.

    Good Morning

We had a great drive to the Central Coast. We left on time and had very little traffic. We enjoyed some wine at a winery up on a hill with outside seating. Gray and cool at the coast. We walked quite a bit after checking in. Today’s our 42nd anniversary. We are off to breakfast at our favorite spot and then will walk on the beach and generally take it easy visiting favorite spots. I’m tired today. Power went out at 3am which was fun with the CPAP. I got back to sleep for an hour and got up. It was cold. Power came back at 7:30 finally. We are looking forward to a great day.
