Somehow my entry never posted yesterday. Happy belated Father's Day to all.
Nice weekend home with DW. She is suffering a bit from post grand baby depression. We walked and talked and watched some Netflix and then watched the Yankees lose the series to Boston (that was depressing in and of itself!).
I may have produced the best flank steak ever last night. Did a reverse sear using a dry rub. Traditionally, we would marinade for a few hours, then grill over a hot flame. But the dry rub and low temp smoke on pellet smoker to 125 F, then sear on flat top produced a perfect med rare with a nice flavorful crust.18yvmy59u1z7.jpg

    Onward and downward ;-)

    Good morning!

Looks good, Lee! Connie, Collin and I had BBQ last night. I had ribs, burnt ends, and smoked sausage. Not on my diet, but I've been doing very well with the diet and one or two meals like that won't hurt a thing.

We are getting three trees cut down today. I need to go out early and weed whack around the large maple so that they can get to it. I also need to move cars to the street so we can get out today.

I saw that stoopid woodchuck twice yesterday. I think that I'm going to have to set a trap for him. I have the trap, I've just never used it. Connie won't let me shoot it.

    Bill, praying the antibiotics help.

Sam, we have had, and continue to have dew points above 70 here in KC. The heat is brutal and it is not even summer yet.

    Have a great day!

    Good morning gentlemen.

    Great looking steak, Lee.

We get mole problems. Rita has trapped two in the last month. Amazing how much damage one or two of those critters can do to a lawn.

We have banking to do this morning, followed by groceries, then lawn work. It should be dry, though still quite cool (63) for the date.

    Good Morning

Nice looking steak Lee. You are the master!

Quiet Father’s day. My eldest son’s car is still in the shop so he couldn’t drive over which was sad. But we had a relaxing day. I reverse seared a Tri Tip that Heather prepared. I did some hip mobility work which helped a lot. I was able to walk at a cardio rate without back tightening problems. I will be keeping that up before walking or going to the gym for other cardio like today. Hopefully that will help me get some traction in my ongoing back recovery. Still have 3 months to go. Later this morning we will start doing some weeding out back. A little each day should get the job done.

Looks great Lee!! I swear by either reverse sear or frozen sear to get the best steak. One can take a vacuum packed steak out of freezer and sear it followed by slow cooking and get as good result or perhaps better than reverse sear (my second choice). Yours looks perfect in my book!!!
Yea don't overdo it Bill. I too am hoping the antibiotics do the trick. My you have suffered way too long.

    Stay comfy all!
