    To me personally, when I think about God creating a new heart within me; it's a renewal of my spirit. The old me passes away. I think about things in a new way. The things that used to make me angry don't anymore. The way I handle things are different. I have more patience, forgiveness and understanding.

    The influences of the world can leave us feeling dirty. Bad news. Horrible situations in the world. Traumatic events that touch our lives. Our own failures.
    It can bring us down...make us feel uncertain and contaminated, unworthy of God.
    Like David we can ask forgiveness for not trusting the Lord and ask for a cleansing of the soul (heart) and a fresh start.
    The feeling of being renewed--and forgiven and ready to start with a clean slate is what renewing a right spirit with in us means.
