🏋🏻♀️Happy Friday, UAC Friends!🧘🏼♀️
Today is our monthly PSA to get moving! Getting enough exercise and activity are some of the most effective ways to feel better and live longer. Exercise alone is not enough (our traditional title for this day), but together with adequate nutrition, calories, rest, and stress management, it goes a long way. This will look different for everyone—examples from UAC members range from gentle stretching and walking to training for and competing in sport events.
Questions to consider for today's discussion:
What are your go-to ways to stay active and exercise?
Do you have any specific exercise/activity goals for this month?
How do you stay motivated to exercise in the long run?
4 -
Each day I do something for exercise even if it’s not planned motivation is important and my motivation is good health. My exercise goal for the month since I belong to another challenge is to complete a minimum of 8 miles of spinning or road/trail riding it may not seem like much but sometimes it the max my knees can do. I also walk at least 2.5 miles each day at lunch makes you feel good.
My motivation is my health and wellness I will be 61 and take no prescribed medications and want to keep it that way!!10 -
Friday 5th July
Exercice: Yes, 30 minutes walking, 45 minutes quite tough Pilates / Gym.
Calories: Yes, stayed under budget
Tracking: Yes, logged everything
Pass Days: 0
Exercice: mostly walking, but until this week also physiotherapy twice a week, Pilates once a week, now to be replaced with Pilates twice a week and hopefully a weekly swim. If you think that I could only just walk the 3 minutes to the pharmacie on the corner 3 1/2 months ago, I have come a long way10 -
Exercise: My only planned exercise is daily walking of 2-3 miles at a modest pace because of chronic foot issues plus some stretching before and while walking. If the weather is awful, I rely on house cleaning to get my exercise minutes in. I don't adjust my calorie goal for my exercise, so I often find that MFP says I will gain weight over five weeks but I actually lose weight if I stay within my calorie goal.8

In the meantime, I believe everyone knows I am a passionate triathlete. But I also like walking and hiking and I am learning to like yoga ! I cannot imagine my life without sport.
I eat more to compensate but not much. I has been easier for me to lose weight at time when I was exercising less because I also had less appetite/hunger...
Thursday
- walking (commute) and swimming
- fasted for most of the day (did an OMAD)
- tracked on paper
Friday
- 1h bike
- My son's birthday (13!). I ate a lot but this was planned. The average of yesterday and today is according to my nutrition plan - this was planned obviously and I feel very good about it. I still made good eating decisions and didn't overate.
- tracked on paper6 -

Although I joined up before the 1st, I forgot to come in and report.

Lately my go to has just been walking. I would like to be more consistent with resistance and light weight training but it has not become routine. I still haven’t found a plan I love to do. I try to keep an open mind about it but I’m usually counting down for the session to be done. Open to any tips and suggestions.

What are your go-to ways to stay active and exercise? Walking and my weekly strength exercise class. I prefer outdoor walking but sometimes I walk on the treadmill. Sometimes its recumbent bike while watching Netflix.
Do you have any specific exercise/activity goals for this month? No, just to be active every day
How do you stay motivated to exercise in the long run? Being booked into a class means I have to do the strength exercises and the need to keep moving as I age is enough for me. My goal is to stay healthy, keep my BP at a normal level, keep my sugar levels normal and at the moment I'm not on any medication and would like to keep it that way.3 -
✅ 20 min exercise. I did an hour on weights and 40 min of cardio. Topped it off with 30 min in the sauna.
✅ within calories - Below by 200, but not hungry and I feel good overall.
✅ tracked all

Questions to consider for today's discussion:
What are your go-to ways to stay active and exercise? I like to hit the gym. The YMCA I'm a part of has an awesome weight room that has electronic weight machines that take all the math and human part out, so its just zone out and follow the lines. (Works like a sine wave to direct your movements) And to be honest the best part is the 20-30 min in the sauna after. It just feels great.
Do you have any specific exercise/activity goals for this month? My goal is to burn 3k cal/wk. I'd like to get back into the running, but I tweaked my knee a few days ago, so its going to be a while before I can actually run/jog.
How do you stay motivated to exercise in the long run? This can be challenging, but I have to keep in mind the benefits I see on a daily basis. The biggest one is I'm not as tired/sleepy at work, I also feel better overall. Getting the weight off and seeing the benefits of that is very motivating. Not just the way I look, but watching my body comp change is awesome.5 -
Today's discussion:
What are your go-to ways to stay active and exercise? ➡️ I usually walk, start the day with a 3 miles walk. Then a goal of 17k steps a day - if I need to get on the treadmill to complete it - I do. But that being said - I recently suffered from a knee injury (meniscus tear) so am unable to walk at the moment. I have been doing seated exercise routines instead and have reduced my step goal to 10K seated steps. I also alternate cardio and strength workouts in addition to my walk.
Do you have any specific exercise/activity goals for this month? ➡️ Not really, but am working on getting 2,024 miles in 2024.
How do you stay motivated to exercise in the long run? ➡️ The challenges on MFP keep me motivated. I lovea little competition, and the two groups I am in (the Biggest Loser and the Hogwarts challenge) make it fun too.

I do a range of exercise daily. My motivation is to stay fit and healthy.7 -
Yes to exercise 20 minutes or more
Yes to stay with in my calorie range
Yes to record all food in my mouth and drink
I walk a LOT, I took 3 walk, as I walk to the grocery store.
I also work in the yard, today was watering mine and my neighbors, plus clenaing.
I also run after some toddlers that are my grandkids.
I sometimes do exercise spark people on line.6 -
For exercise I like to walk and hike. I enjoyed water aerobics when I was close to a YMCA. And I used to ride horses for my work which is quite a workout for a lot of different muscles, lol. Those are my favorite types of exercise. As for motivation, right now keeping the dog occupied has me walking 3 x's a day.

It was a good week for me for staying on track. I've got a planned pass day next week so figured I'd need to keep on track this one. Long walk in the heat, counted all my calories and stayed on budget.
My main exercise is walking, recently added the gym for the weight machines twice a week and try to swim once a week. My goals for this month are to consistently hit the weight room so it becomes habit.5 -

Pass day today, my first for July, calories and recording ok, but no exercise. 3 minutes into my workout got a call that my sister-in-law had passed away, and we rushed to her home... So I have an excuse, don't feel too bad about this pass.
