Good morning gentlemen.
Had a good meeting with my PCM, yesterday. She was pleased with the weight I have lost, but said I need to add some muscle. My legs are quite fit, but I look "gaunt" in her words. OK, I can own that. There was a time when I hit the gym three days a week but haven't for a long time. At home, my dumbbells sit untouched in the corner. A gym membership might be in my future. I can use the great facilities on post for free, but it's a gallon of gas each way to get there. At our prices that's about $25 a week for three trips to the "free" gym. I can get a premium membership at Planet Fitness, 10 minutes from our house, for $25 a month. Seems an easy choice.0 -
Good morning!
I overheated again yesterday. Today will be about taking it easy inside.
I'm thinking about exploring Silver Sneakers at the YMCA. We have two different "Ys" that are not far from us. We also have a ton of other fitness facilities close by. I have a lot of my own equipment, so I really don't need a gym, but the pool sounds like a good idea.
We had BBQ out last night. Expensive, but oh so good!
Have a great day!0 -
Would that people thought I looked "gaunt".
I have dumbells mostly sitting in a corner and need to get them working every day again. I remember the cardiac rehab people telling us that arm workouts reduce cardiac risk, besides the benefits of cardio, diet and stress reduction.
Went out before breakfast this morning and did a 2 mi. hike around Whitehall "Pond" here in town, before the heat set in. The state improved the park with trail markers & signs and cleared brush overgrowth. They also removed some whimsical christmas ornaments that for years have been on a tree at the far end of the trail. I always enjoyed going by that little surprise in the forest. (Fun Police at work again.)
Humidity was oppressive already this morning, getting up to 90's today.
Learning how to repair chipped ivory piano keys. First one came out okay, but you can tell there was a repair if you look closely. Supposed to be invisible. I'll be enjoying my AC and fiddling with that today.
Havea good day everyone.0 -
Good Morning
I do Silver Sneakers free videos on Youtube. We don’t have or want an Advantage Plan which includes the full Silver Sneakers membership. Yesterday I started to work on balance and did a cardio strength one with my dusty hand weights. That one I will alternate with walking or when it is too hot to go outside for walking. I am trying to put together and get into a new morning routine with the various excercises and my studies which have restarted. Hardest part is getting going. Speaking of which…..0 -
Yikes some heat indices of 119-ish in KC? wow. a piddly 98 to 102 in our neck of the woods yesterday with 99deg in PDX and 102 at my DD's house nearby. Just a mere skosh of humidity instead of our usual drier heat especially when temps go up.
Getting a few red and golden cherry tomatoes but waiting for a real BLT tomato.
Today probably 5-7 deg cooler and back into more "normal" summer high temps.
Stay cool and keep the Traeger smokin'0 -
Steve, I use a cooling hat and bandana when I go out in the summer heat. Started about 10 years ago when I kept getting overheated and sick. They work pretty well for me. Soak it 5 minutes and they hold moisture a long while. Supposedly tested and reduces risk of heat exhaustion.
