Could not sleep, nerve block they told me would last at least 24 hours started wearing off in 8 hours and totally gone 6 last night.
Said shoulder worse than thought, should have replaced but did not have at surgery center
Reattached as much of rotator cuff as they could, same with bicep and triceps, ground down bone spurs left shoulder joint bone on bone. They have not ask for a review
Since I'm up Pablo had to get up and is now a sleep on recliner with me.0 -
Mornin' gents.
Caught up on posts last couple of days. Steve is writing big checks, Dave is too gaunt, Mike is fixing pianos, Bill is watching too much of the Olympics, and Sam is sweating it out in Georgia.
Sorry about the shoulder, Sam. I have heard that often the shoulder replacements go better than shoulder reconstruction depending on existing damage.
Last night was DGS's first birthday. He is a bit of a hoot. His DM and his DGM's are hypnotized. The DGF's sat back and watched him manipulate the ladies with his antics and just chuckled. Commenting under their breath about how his fascination with objects' gravitational properties would not be rewarded with picking up said object for him to throw on the floor again. I figure that kind of behavior can be corrected a bit later. He is a pretty happy guy overall.
Today is hot and muggy. Not sure how I am going to fill it yet.
Someone's comment about how bacon would not be conducive to weight loss inspired me to give away the tomatoes I had pegged for BLTs. I have plenty of nice tomatoes for salad. I gave the beefsteaks to someone who is not trying to lose weight and will enjoy with bacon.
Onward and downward ;-)

G' Mornin, men.
Another hot one on tap today. Already warm and stifling humid.
Sam, hope you give the torturers a review they deserve. Yikes, that's a lot of surgery on one shoulder. Hope it at least works out good in the end for you.
Wanted to get out for a walk before it warmed up but got up to late and it was already warm enugh to convince me to make coffee and breakfast first. I should head up north where it's cool and do some camping. DD has a place on the coast of Maine with two campgrounds nearby and it's only in the low 70's every day...
Lee, DGS sounds like a bundle of enthusiasm for the joys of life.0 -
Good morning!
Mike, thank you for the hat recommendation. I'll get one of those.
Sam, prayers continue for your health issues, especially your shoulder. I am praying that what reconstruction they did will help you.
I took a page out of Bill's playbook and last night I tried my hand at baking donuts. They were not too bad, but I still have practice to do. They are not totally unhealthy, but they are not exactly chamber of commerce healthy either.
I am feeling better today. I am going to try to mow today as it is going to get really hot again the first several days of next week. Only about half of the yard really needs cutting. Now what Connie and I are both dealing with is these danged oak mite bites. The oak mites really get active in late summer. I have at least 10 bites that I'm putting calamine on regularly. The bites also make it hard to get solid sleep.
Have a great day!0 -
Good morning gentlemen.
Sam, I really feel for what you're going through with your shoulder. Use the pain meds. If they are going to have to do a replacement, it would be nice if they could do it soon, so you only have you do all the recovery stuff once. Prayers for you brother.
Oak mites sound unpleasant.
I'll watch the soccer game between US women and Japan, this morning, then hit the shop.
We selected a pair of new recliners, yesterday. Now have to wait two to three months for them to be delivered. We didn't want any faux leather, so they will be upholstered to order. Deferred gratification.0 -
Good Morning
Sam, it makes me wonder if anyone on the team knows how to read an MRI with that much damage. My back surgeon found a different situation than he expected in my back, but he warned me that it was hard to see clearly what the exact issue was from the MRI, what he was planning on doing and would have to wait till he got a good look and would then decide what else to do. We were able to discuss the ins/outs before and then after.
I pushed it hard in the hills walking yesterday morning and took a lot of unplanned naps as a result. All I can do is keep working until I begin to build back some endurance and recovery. Today I do cardio/strength with balance and stretching work and hopefully avoid napping. Weight loss is getting some traction now that I am beginning to eat normal food again like salads and veggies. My son made a killer Mac and Cheese for dinner last night. That didn’t help. A bit much for my recovering system but it was killer. We asked him to make dinner one night a week to help out when I was struggling since he can cook when he wants to. It is never a lite meal0
