Physical activity is defined as any movement made by the body, including during leisure time. Physical activity has been proven to prevent various diseases and illnesses including cancer, type-2 diabetes, and hypertension. It can also be helpful for improving mental health among children, adults, and pregnant women alike.

For some, self-monitoring is an effective way to motivate themselves to be more physically active. For instance, recording your weight every week can help you have an understanding of if what you are doing is working or not. Furthermore, creating short-term, realistic goals can keep you accountable and set you up for success while also motivating yourself to create more goals.

I like to keep track of how often I work out during the week to make sure I am keeping on top of my goal, which is to go to the gym at least three times a week. Often, when I work out three or more times a week, I realize that I feel better physically and mentally, which motivates me to keep up the routine. Additionally, I will set up times that my friends and I can work out together, as I enjoy working out with people who push me to excel in the gym.
  • Physical activity is any activity that makes your body move.
Some benefits of physical activity are achieving a healthy and capable body, reduced chances of illnesses and diseases, longer life span, and better mental health and self esteem.
Some motivational factors for achieving physical activity can be wanting a fit body, or wanting to lose wheight. Also just building up their discipline or wanting to feel better about themselves.
Personally, I motivate myself to exercise by comparing myself to others and to my self, and setting goals for myself. I like the feeling of accomplishment and fullfilment after I'm done working out. I also love to eat, and if I don't keep up, my health will decrease.
