Fasting for Peace

So I'm planning to follow the Pope today in fasting for Peace, and I have to say I'm nervous. Fasting isn't part of my food plan, so I don't know whether the discomfort will trigger big-time binging later.
My plan is to skip the midday meal, which means under eating my calories for today. My plan is to tolerate the discomfort w/o overcompensating for it afterwards. Not going to be easy for me at all.

I think that American Catholics need to be the leaven in the bread, and to pressure their elected representatives to do the right thing, and to ask them to say NO to a strike on Syria. Fasting and prayer is nice, but if you are an American, you have to actually do something that the rest of us in other countries can't: do like the Brits and use your elected houses to stop the insanity before it begins.0

With all respect, I think you have that backwards.
Jesus promised that fasting and prayer would be efficacious.
I don't have as much faith in our elected officials.0 -

Lord Jesus,
I give you my hands to do your work.
I give you my feet to follow your path.
I give you my eyes to see as you do.
I give you my tongue to speak your words.
I give you my mind so that you can think in me.
I give you my spirit so that you can pra in me.
Above all I give you my heart so in me you can love your Father and all people.
I give you my whole self so you can grow in me, till it is you, Lord Jesus, who live and work and pray in me.
Amen0
