I don't drink but I ate enough junk last night to feel like I have a hangover. The center of the party seemed to be the kitchen island where people gathered, and where all the food was laid out. The lovely looking chocolate mousse cake is what finally got me. Sigh... Today's a new day and the beginning of a new year.

I did get in a great walk yesterday morning with a friend who walks 10 miles a day. We did 4.5 miles on dirt roads and some hiking trails in a watershed area. After the rain of late there were some nice little waterfalls going. Afterward stopped at Home Depot and spoke to the store manager who confirmed the $1000+ bill for renting a small truck overnight was an error and is resolved. He even offered to give me a discount for my trouble next time I came in and bought something there.

Regardless of party overindulgence, onward and once again, downward.

    Happy New Year!

I went to bed at 10:30, but Connie likes to stay up and read. She came in a midnight and kissed me on the forehead. Then I heard the fireworks.

Mike, I am so happy that the rental truck thing is resolved. Whew! What a PITA.

Several little tasks today, including an emergency trip to the store for coffee filters. I went to Walmart yesterday for groceries, but I didn't count on 80,267 other people being there at the same time. That was very stressful, and I missed, or they were out of, several items. I will make a quick trip today to a real grocer.

Safe travels Lee! It was great to see you on your journey.

    Have a great day!

    Happy New Year,
Though it is just another day,
Will go get DMIL and invited neighbor who helps walk Pablo for southern New Year's lunch.
Seems some of you northerns at sending cold blast this way, next week highs of 40.
No envy here of anyone having to setup kitchen and house but it will be worth it in long run.
I'm with you Mike, I need to get rid of "seefood syndrome"
    Safe travels Lee.

    Good morning gentlemen.

No alcohol here, for a very long time (41 years and counting). We stayed up until midnight. Sassy was a bit put out by our altering her schedule. My hangover is from the food in the house for the last week. I weighed myself yesterday, for the first time since the 23rd: up 6 lbs. Well, the cookies, cakes and pies are gone. Back to a heightened sense of discipline. A retired paster in our church organized a group with a schedule to read the Bible over the next year. I start today. Perhaps that will be an anchor to help with my weight, too.

Rose Bowl this afternoon. Go Ducks!

    Happy New Year!

We are ready for a fresh start in a fresh town. Exciting day yesterday peeling contact paper off shelves and cutting new stuff to go down. Progress is slow. We went for NYE for the first time in a very long time. A local art gallery/wine tasting spot had a band for a NYE party so we bought 2 tickets. We were able to walk over enjoy the evening and walk home. We actually new someone at the affair. Best part they went with East Coast timing and we toasted in the NY at 9:00 and were home by 10:00. I have been working on my tracking just trying to be more consistent and reasonably accurate. So the hard cider and cheese/meat plate we shared got entered. My current motto on this is one day at a time, but 2025 I have to focus on making progress health wise not getting through stuff. I didn't try very hard last year weight wise.

This afternoon we will stop working and head north to Yachats for a First Day Hike as we try to get more engaged with the community and get some exercise. A big 1 1/2 miles. We will miss the Rose Bowl as a result but will follow the game later. Go Ducks! I miss the billboard in Eugene we would drive by the counted down the days/hrs/mins till the game.
