Interesting Mike. I grew up in a culture out in Oklahoma where most everyone hunted. I have noticed after spending almost 50 years in the NE, that hunters are spread a lot thinner. It appeared to me that betting (illegal in the beginning) was much more popular.
The hunting community is still a strong presence, but the fall greeting in NE isn't like it is in OK, or CO for that matter, "got your deer, yet?".
    Wagyu hamburgers last night.
Heading home tomorrow and will step on the scale to survey the damage.

    Onward and downward ;-)

    Good morning!

Lee, continued safe travels. I understand that hunting and fishing are about the same. Around here, the saying is "a bad day fishing/hunting is better than a good day at work." There is some truth to that.

    Welcome, Snowyjr1.

We are bracing for our worst ice/snow in 10 years. We could get up to a foot of snow. I am so glad I'm not working. The roads will be a mess until Monday or Tuesday.

I must be making progress with my rib. My shoulders hurt worse than my rib now. I still need to be careful.

Bill, I'm so happy that you are making such large strides with your pain management. That's awesome!

Hang in there Mike with the piano patience.

    Have a great day!

    Mornin’, men.

Feels like 7° outside with the wind, and actual temp not going over 25° this afternoon. Brrr. Pretty sure the icefishing will resume now. Have to renew my fishing license—$1.65 if you’re an old fogey…

Bob, the eye issue must be a challenge for your doing a lot of activities other people would just take for granted. Glad you can do all that bike riding—that’s amazing.

Just remembered another SIL got into skeet shooting recently and is talking about hunting. His teenage son also may go.

Getting back on plan with eating—no between meals snacks, no sugar in my morning coffee, limited helping size. Plus try to work in enough veggies.

    Good morning gentlemen.

Spent a lot of time in the shop, cleaning up. Then trimmed a split log and started making shavings to mess everything up again. The cycle of life in a wood shop. Still have that large chuck of bigleaf maple on the lathe to work on this afternoon.

I have vowed to get back on plan. Then, last night Rita produces a chunk of Costco Tuxedo Cake and says, "we need to finish this." I really was good, but the price is paid on the waistline. Sigh.

There is 100 percent chance of rain this afternoon, so we'll be doing our walk this morning.

    Good Morning

Bob, I didn't quite realize the vision had gotten that bad. How the heck are you cycling without it become adventurous?

Welcome Snowyjr1. Over the years are daily threads have become more eclectic but we are a diverse, but supportive group. Jump in, we have all had success and something less than that on weight loss, especially sustained weight loss. Currently I am focusing on rebuilding my tracking habit on WW. I am on a 5 day streak. If nothing else it is eye opening how out of touch I have gotten on certain food values. I have also realized our temporary living situation creates a strong headwind. But I am pressing on. Things should settle down in about 10 days when we are living in our house. Just a couple more days of rain before we get a break. I will have to look for an opportunity to walk since we are almost done unpacking the initial boxes, except the books.

My eye sight really doesn't affect my cycling particularly. I have friends with amlyopia ("lazy eye syndrome") they do just fine bike riding. folks do fairly ok (and legal) driving in all 50 states + District of Columbia with vision in one eye. The hardest thing is to thread a needle to do minor clothing darning type of thing. very difficult.
Stay warm all you folks with the arctic blasts going on except out here on the West Coast. As Bill says our rain should end in a couple of days.
I luckily got out this a.m. before the rains hit today. Pretty drippy right now.
