Happy Monday everyone.
I am working on a “life inventory” exercise and one question I had sparked me to think quite a bit about what aspects of my health I’d like to focus on more. I put it before you below (emphasis on “you wish”) as opposed to what’s actually happening.
Imagine you have a birthday party for a milestone year. Your doctor is invited to come and speak in your honour. What do you wish your doctor said about how you treat your body?
I wrote “She respected and enjoyed her body, and was thoughtful about aging well”1 -

I've just discovered that my watch style fitness tracker is giving me steps when I'm swimming - about 1,000 steps for a 15 minute swim 😕.
However, I did 3 swims this morning and a long walk in the afternoon, plus a long walk this evening for dinner.
My actual named GP would find it difficult to say anything as I have very rarely seen him. But I hope he would be able to see from my record that I have been mostly fit and healthy for the last 20+ years with just a blip of weight gain about 10 years ago that was corrected within a few years.5 -

hahaha... My Dr barely remembers that I don't smoke or ask for a lot of Rx... i think if he came to speak at my Bday he would say - she remembers to come in annually. I don't actually wish for him to say anything because he is a long winded.....5 -

She has gotten healthier, reducing the functional age of her body and reduced her risk of her family hereditary diseases. Her quality of life is something to admire.

My Dr could say:
“Well you wanted to try to better your health without medication first… You worked hard in making better choices in your food choices, portions, exercising, moving more, losing weight, etc. Keep up the great work!”
But no my Dr would never say that, She’d preferred to give me prescriptions for meds.
I miss my retired Dr who worked on prevention.
