    Good morning!

I started a post at the same time Lee did, so I deleted mine.

Cold here at 6 degrees. I am hoping it gets to 30 today. We still have snow on the ground which makes it difficult for me to walk outside.

I am starting out the day very tired feeling, so today will be more of a rest day.

I'm starting to groove a little on the challenge of cooking better for Connie (and me). It is a steep learning curve. Connie hates bland food, so that is in part why we have been eating so poorly. I am learning how to not have bland food without a ton of salt. This requires a lot more making food from scratch, but I actually like that.

    Have a great day!

    Mornin' gents.

Steve, you posted like 2 sec before I did. So I posted under your start and then discovered you deleted.
Low sodium cooking is challenging. LOTS of garlic, peppers, and curries.
Mike, I take hydrochlorthiazide daily to help with lower leg edema from insufficient venous return.
Not sure how it came up I wasn't feeling well. I'm fine, left shoulder is a wee bit sore from getting my flu shot way late but before I go in for knee replacement.
"Golden Trowel" LOL. That was indeed a cold ride, Bob.
I did a slow cooker gumbo with chukar partridge, chicken andouie sausage, shrimp, and brown rice. I figure it will be about 4 pts a bowl. It came out very good, that is a keeper recipe. I will eat on it for 3-4 days.

    Onward and downward ;-)

    Good morning gentlemen.

Hurray! It's 35 degrees this morning. We'll be back frosty again tonight. Haven't walked in several days, not because I am a wimp, but my walking partner - the one with two legs - eschews cold-weather walking. I have been busy with other pursuits, anyway. We'll try to get out this morning.

Cleaning up the shop today - again - and doing some more turning, just for fun. Yesterday I finished a really nice bowl in cherry that had been drying for 14 months. With all the rough turning I have been doing it's nice to finish a few things.

    Good Morning

I second Lee's comments on packing on flavor without lots of salt. I also find some ancho chili powder. It you don't go overboard it is a nice flavor enhancer, especially with onion and garlic.

We slowly worked on some boxes with odds and ends yesterday before we headed out exploring some lakes abut 1-2 miles across the river. One is on the backside of the Oregon Dunes Reserve fed by a stream that didn't find its way to the sea. Strange to see the dunes flow down to the lake. We wandered around a bit and headed over to the other side of 101 where there is a large lake. Steve, you and your kayak would have been at peace here. We did see a few out there. We went a mile and a half over just over an hour. It wasn't cardio, except a few parts, but sometimes it is good just to get out and have a bit of a ramble as John Muir would say. Today we had planned a big day reorganizing the garage and shifting things to the shed, but Heather didn't sleep well when I found her on the couch at 7:00 am so I will do what I can on my own. I need to get a bit of grocery shopping done as well. I am at the end of the current menu. Need to make some soup and perhaps a meatloaf for dinner and sandwiches. I am slowly rounding back into cooking mode. I will try baking some crusty rolls for the soup on that day.
