Dave that sounds very similar to the recipe I use for my white chili. I wish I had pablanos in the freezer, but I have used and/or given away all the ones I grew this year, the canned green chilis suffice.
Mupiricin is good stuff, Bob. How is her finger? Stiches?
My sister had radiation after she had a mass in her lower abdomen involving her reproductive tract removed, and she had GI problems for months, maybe a couple of years, afterwards. Hopefully your gut issues will resolve/recover sooner rather than later, Bill. I'm imagine your docs have you on specific pre and probiotics to aid the recovery.
That is a really restrictive diet Connie has been given. If anyone can make it work, Chef Steven can.
Not even a snack for lunch when hiking, Mike? Steak and potatoes with a healthy salad sounds darn good after marching up and down a mountain.
Had a phone call with our $$ mgmt guy yesterday. He kept talking about my retirement. I don't know why I hate that word, so I politely kept reminding him I wasn't planning on retiring, and he politely reminded me that I was likely not going to have the same income I have now once I move to Colorado, likely less than half, since I will probably doing per diem work and going on medicare. So in so far as our financial situation was concerned, I was basically retiring.
(((Sigh)))
Onward and downward ;-)

Good morning!
This may be short as the cat keep pawing at my typing arm.
It is interesting preparing for retirement. I had 401(k) that I had tried to work on for several years. The idea was to use Connie's teacher pension, our social security, and then also skim some regularly off the 401(k). As it turns out, our combined "income" is more than enough each month, even with some extras like my dental crown, and the electrician coming out. Our 401(k)/savings have not been touched, thankfully, since I retired.
My rib is doing much better these days, but it reminds me from time to time, like yesterday, that I am still not fully healed.
Have a great day!0 -
Good morning, gentlemen.
The cold that won't go away. A handful of pills and a hot mug of coffee have me feeling a little better anyway.
A lifetime of frugality made retirement decisions easier, I found. Fourteen years after I quit working, we still save more than we spend. We know people in their 60s making very good income, who still live paycheck to paycheck, saving nothing. Spend whatever you have; have fun, now. They have no plan at all for their old age, which is rapidly approaching. What I hope for you, Lee, is that the decision is about how much and what work you love to do, and not about what you can afford. I like to think of grey-haired Doc Lee caring for a nice dog in the morning then spending the afternoon flyrod in hand on a pretty stream in the Rocky Mountain foothills.

Good Morning
Lee, I am finding new Docs now. They treat the gut issues with diet since it rarely lasted a long time. I can take slippery elm bark which can help at times if I keep at it. The flare ups only last several days at most. But it would be good to know what is going on since they are coming more frequently now. I see the new urologist in 2 weeks finally. He/she manages the cancer ongoing so I will see what he/she says, but I am more concerned about continuing to pass blood in my urine and overall deterioration of things.
My retirement came early due to my back. Those two years of needing to draw down our savings a bit instead of paying into them as planned really did a job on us. Since we needed a home without stairs, we had to move and the easy solution was to move somewhere cheaper, with no mortgage, no HOA fees etc. My pension and SS are all based on my earning in expensive California. I picked up at least $2400/mo in savings while keeping those and we replenished our savings with the surplus from the house. And we get to live on the coast. I worked out for us.
It dropped to freezing last night but warms back up today. We have some wet weather coming our way tomorrow and the days following so we are heading for the sand and walk along the shore.0
