I think we got your share up here @Deeder522!! And it is still coming down. Rich did a quick driveway plow yesterday since friends were coming over. Holding for now until the snow stops and to see if we are supposed to get the gusts they are calling for.
Did another one of the new 5ks on the site. This one didn't have the leader that drives my nuts!! I have realized post COVID I need a longer cool down and stretch after. But feel pretty good right now0 -
February Goals
Mileage Tracked: 38 / 60 miles
Apple Challenge: Reach my "move" goal 16 times. 10 / 16 days
I woke up, took the garbage and recycling to the curb, and did two Miracle Miles with Leslie and the crew.
It sounds like Ry had a rough night, so I'll be watching him closely today. It looks like we have a week of cold temperatures scheduled.
Stay warm and keep walking!0 -
My walks and workouts this past week:
Mon. 2/10: Leslie Sansone's Burn Body Fat 3 Mile Walk - I'm questioning why I chose to do this longer workout first, lol! But it was fine. This was my first workout with Leslie, and she's fun! Thank you all for introducing me to her
Wed. 2/12: 50 minutes snow shoveling our driveway (snow shoveling is one of my favorite workouts!)
Sat. 2/15: 60 minute walk outside in the cold winter wind cross country and up and down hills (part of this time was spent walking my dad's dog, Dottie). Our partly melted snow has become a snowy frozen slush that crunched underfoot, a delightful sound!
@zichab Thank you for the warm welcome and your very helpful encouragement!! This group has already helped me get moving this week!Bummer about your power going out, that's no fun. You're so lucky to live in a small town! I love what your Fire Dept did
Thank you for the Anniversary congrats. Yeah, that was a very fun weather prediction we got! I think we ended up with 4" or so of snow in the end. I would've been happy with more, but I'll take what we got! You mentioned "roof shoveling territory..." That's a serious amount of snow.
@megd44 Congratulations to you on 26 in June! You're so right:) Mark is always making laugh; that's so important. Wow, 300,000 steps is excellent, all the best to you!
@Deeder522 Does Ry sing and/or play an instrument? It's wonderful he has a special creative zone to go into and recharge. That's so important.
Thank you, all, for your weather reports! We received an inch or so today, and a little more is on the way.1 -

Ry composes, records, masters, and produces all his music. He does everything electronically through various keyboards and synthesizers. Most of it leans more electronically but his last full album moved through several music genres. You can look up TrakZero on YouTube or wherever you stream music from.
I used to choose the longer workouts from Leslie because then I could see actual goals being met. So I'd choose a 3 mile workout and slowly make my way through each mile until I was doing the whole 3 or 4 miles. I've never made it do the 5 mile mark...yet.

I am off to a good start this week! After you mentioned Burn to the Beat @megd44, I remembered I have that DVD and I did not think I could do all 3 miles yet as they take 52 minutes, but it was no problem at all!!! I am thinking of moving to a 4 mile DVD next week and see if I can do it. I have 2 of them as well as the 4 Miracle Miles. I may be ready! My goal is to get back to the 5 mile walks at least 2 X a week. Maybe by the end of March I will be ready? We'll see because Daylight Saving Time always messes me up! I hate it!!! :explode:
Oh @deeder522! How sweet is Ryan! Flowers are just such a nice thing in February. I thought you used to do the 5 Mile workouts fairly regularly back in the day. Maybe that was AnnofB or PinkyPan.
Great to see you @Elfirose33! I thought maybe you got buried in all that Missouri snow. I see you have another one coming at you this week that is supposed to be worse. Maybe you will get more inches? We do have a "serious" amount of snow. There was about 28 inches of snow on the ground and we just got another 14 so it is between 30 and 40 inches at the moment. The winds have blown it all around as well, so there are drifts that are huge. However, we love our snow up here in the mountains, even when it comes in feet!I suspect @megd44 has just as much as we do.
Tomorrow we are going out in the world and see the snow on our way to an appointment! That should be "interesting!" Til Wednesday!

Today: I shoveled the little bit of snow on the driveway, about 10 minutes; and then I hauled wood for 20 minutes.
@Deeder522 Cool! Will do:) Good reason for doing the longer workouts, makes sense!
@zichab Thank you! LOL!!! That's a good one, well said (about getting buried in the MO snows, lol! This past week was just over-the-top busy, glad it's over. Yes, we have another winter storm coming! It's snowing right now, big flakes. I'm so glad we're getting a winter this year, as last year it didn't really happen. However, next week we are supposedly in for "spring-like" weather---I sure don't like the sound of that. Hooray for you accomplishing the 3 miles DVD!

@Elfirose33 great start!! Snow shoveling is one heck of a workout. I will remain inside again today since it is 8 and we supposed to get 40 mph wind gusts.
@zichab you are doing greatbon your goals!! And hitting those 3 miles regularly. I am thinking about doing the 5 Mega Miles over the weekend.
@Deeder522 sorry to hear about Ry. Hopefully some things get sorted soon.
I am doing ok on my goals. Should hit 300k steps and my activity count. Walking hours could be off because I tried a different Garmin setting and it called my activity running, lol.1 -
Walk off Fat Fast from the WAT YouTube page this morning. I can feel yesterday's miracle band moves in my arm and back today.
When I walked into the Den to start my exercise, the Weather station read -5. 😵💫 Even the snow looks colder this morning.1 -
Walk 15 from YouTube this morning.
It's warmer this morning and we should return to the 20s for temps now. The snow is that extra shimmery but super crunchy texture. Pretty to look at when the sun comes out but still a pain to deal with. 🤣1 -
I've decided that shoveling snow is a walking / strength workout. Yesterday morning (2/18): I shoveled snow for 50 minutes in a cold, light 15 mph wind, around 4* or so. Snow was powdery so I was able to mostly just push it around (instead of lift and carry). Hauled some wood after that. It snowed all day yesterday, light flurries, totaling 3" or so. Today (2/19): Shoveled snow for 45 minutes this morning, temp. -1*. Tomorrow the temp. is predicted to drop to -8* or so.
Thank you @megd44!
Good job to everyone!1 -
It hit the 20s yesterday and is 14 now. We got a couple of more inches last night and still snowing a bit. The trees are so amazingly beautiful. But I am dreaming of a Caribbean beach vacation, TBH.
Yesterday I did a mix and match blend with intervals before I headed to the office. Today WFH and did one of Joey Thurman's band sessions and a short easy walk to get some steps. Think I may finally have a good mix of hard workout days v. easier for movement.
I am thinking about getting a walking pad to use when we are watching TV in the evening. Anyone have one they like?1 -
Took today as a rest day. I was at a client Tuesday and had to do multiple flight of stairs which are at a decently steep incline and my thighs still hurt.
We've had some flurries on and off today but it's mostly just cloudy. I'm looking forward to the weekend with a possible warm-up. My car needs a good washing.
@megd44 I used a walking pad years ago but nothing recently. I think the 1 thing to look at is the speed. A lot of walking pads at the time had a pretty slow rate of speed. I think the top speed on the 1 I used was 2MPH.0 -

@Elfirose33 you will get no argument from any of us northern girls that snow shoveling is a workout for every part of your body!!!! Even an inch or so that covers a whole driveway is a workout! It's even a workout on MFP under shoveling snow and I have used it!!! These days, we have a snow blower, and a snow plow guy so I do not have to shovel much, but I used to do it all.
@megd44 I am not ready for 5 Mega Miles, but I am thinking of doing WAH Walk Slim-4 Fast Miles We'll see how energetic I feel on Saturday. I am working up to 5 Mega Miles though!
@deeder522 Stairs are murder on the legs when you have to go up and down several times in a short period of time. Cardio wise, I rarely had a problem, but my legs complained loudly for a couple of days after if I went up and down too many times. In the MI house, my laundry was on the bottom floor and the room where most laundry went was on the top floor so I was running up 2 long flights of stairs several times a day and my legs definitely protested!!! :ohwell:
Our trip to the electrocardiologist was interesting. Dennis definitely needs a pace maker as the new valve has squeezed the wires in his heart and they are "shorting out," at least that is the best way I can think of to describe it! In any event, I will need a lot of support in the next 3 weeks because ... he is not allowed to drive!!!!! :noway: Do you know what this mean???? I will be driving him EVERYWHERE From now until the beginning of April! He will drive me crazy!!!! "Do you have to hit every pothole?" Would you pass this guy please?" "WHAT ARE YOU DOING passing this car???" Don't put the brakes on so hard you will wear them out!" "Uh the speed limit is 30 here not 27" etc etc etc!!!!!! I will no doubt be gaining weight from all the drinking I shall have to do to get through this!!!!!
It was -8F this morning when I got up, but it is up to 21F now so I was thinking maybe I should cahnge into shorts. I would not want to get over heated or anything! :bigsmile:2 -
I did 2 workouts with Jules from Improved Health. They were short walks so combining the 2 made for a decent workout.
Today, at a client's, I went to leave and I completely forgot what day it was & asked her if it was Monday or Friday. I didn't know if I should wish her a good week or weekend. 🤦🏼♀️ This is after I thought I had a good night's sleep. 🤣
@zichab I 149% feel for you. I've become the primary driver in the last several years and Ry likes to run color commentary when he has the energy. I have two driving styles now. Driving with Ry and Driving without Ry. 🤣

Used yesterday as a rest day. Did the 5 Mega Miles and feel like collapsing, but got through it. I totally forgot that it incorporates low impact, intervals and strength. Liked it but super glad today is a quiet day for me.
What is it about men feeling the need to comment on our driving? Rich does that too and then hates it if I point out who has a better driving record.
My new winter coat arrived yesterday. So I am expecting a warm up will happen. They are saying almost 40 mid week, but cold again by next weekend.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!!1 -

Thank you @deeder522 and megd44 for the driving support. Yesterday, I was not missing enough pot holes to suit him! We live in the North Country! Pot holes are more prevelent than snow!!! It is not possible to miss them! I am telling you ladies, if you hear a news report that a woman in NY killed her husband, it just might be about ME!!!! :explode:
LOL oh @megd44, I knew that one was a killer! That was the Leslie walk I did before I tried any of Jillian Michaels' workouts!!!! I always wanted to lay down and go to sleep after 5 Mega Miles!!! Props and Congrats to you for finishing it!!!!!
I will be doing colonoscopy prep tomorrow so no work out for me. I am going to plan for Monday, but my procedure is not until 1PM, and I am having an endoscopy also, so I might get home late and be too tired. We'll see how it goes, but, I will be back on Tuesday for sure. Enjoy that new coat @megd33 and get some good sleep @deeder522! :bigsmile:1
