Good morning!
Rain changing to snow here today. This next week will be the coldest of the winter with temps below zero in the morning, and wind chills down to -20. Ugh!
Sam, prayers continue for you and for Joanne. That must be very hard.
Bill, please tell me more about the Meloxicam. I have thought about getting off it myself, but probably not while it is so cold out. How is it making you feel better? I have thought that the Meloxicam has thinned my blood so that every time I get a small cut I bleed like crazy. Have you noticed that? Since I am no longer working, I'd like to also figure a way to get off my Zoloft and Wellbutrin, but that requires a doctor's help. Perhaps in May when I'm on Medicare.
Chores today, rest tomorrow. We had a quiet Valentine's day and ate at home. I made some Guacamole as a snack. It tasted OK, but not great. More practice is needed.
Have a great day!0 -
Morning. Sam, hoping things resolve soon for DW.
After my divorce and not sleeping I was on Atavan. after months on it I mentioned to my doctor I was getting very depressed, and he said "Oh, atavan has that side effect." Gee, now you tell me. Sometimes it's better to be off certain meds if you can, even if they do help though a crisis or emergency.
Started fine tuning piano and realized some of the tuning pins were too loose. I stopped tuning, and yesterday I tipped over piano to treat those with very thin superglue. Went out to do errands to let the fumes clear. Got it back upright again and will resume tuning when I get a half day free.
Two foot snow forecast has turned into 4"-6" with ice. And high wind warnings afterwards. If roads are okay I drive to Boston area tomorrow to dog-sit for Rory while DS's family is in Florida.
Dave, organizing workshop sounds like an epic adventure, especially with new tool gigantic tool case.0 -
Good morning gentlemen.
I can't sign on here without having Joanne and Sam at the top of my thoughts. Prayers for you both.
Spent some time in the shop, yesterday, but organization got sidetracked. I had a bowl I was working on that somehow found itself on the lathe and me working on it instead of cleaning up. Still need to finish the bottom of the bowl, but that won't happen for a couple days. The grandkids are being dropped off this morning, while their parents take a trip out of town. DW says we are going to a movie this afternoon.
Our weather is beginning a gradual warming. We should make it into the 50s later this week. We'll be looking for signs of spring before you know it.0 -
Indeed Joanne and Sam ar atop my prayer list too. Our snow turned to freezing rain w a touch of sleet but mostly freezing rain that coated less than 0.1" so really just added a bit of crust to the texture of the snow. that was followed later by another inch or two of snow. I mentioned yesterday that DW and I had great fun trudging thru the snow in our Yaktrax to see the wetlands. Warmed up in the pm a bit and our residential roads are now mostly clear w some patches of melted snow left.
skipped riding my "winter bike" this a.m.. It was too brainracking yesterday as I need much wider tires than my hybrid bike width studded snow tires to get decent handling. Gave me heart palpitations last night from the super high stress levels.
We are loving our Nokian WR G4 (from Finland) type ultimate "all weather (waay beyond 'all season') Three Peak Mountain Snowflake rated tires on our subaru Outback. These are considered traction tires for going over mountain passes in the snow. Unlike the Blizzak studless tires these can be left on car year round and are OK in summer. Probably wouldn't want them in Arizona in the summer or Death Valley so much but seem fine. We drove over Mt Hood in a blinding snow blizzard and they handled fine similar to a Blizzak tire. Ours were sent to our dealer from Vermont I think.
Yikes Mike at least not another 2 feet of snow.
Oh movie would be great. Looking forward to seeing "Paddington in Peru" which my daughter saw with her husband yesterday.
Yeah warming this week and may pre-sprout (to 1") some peas in an old mayo jar w cheese cloth (set up like a sprouts jar). I find they do best if planted as tiny sprouts. They don't ever seem to rot if it gets wet etc when germinated that way. I see that last year I planted them on Feb 19th which seemed a little late but could be just right this year. We are suppose to see 50deg here later this week too.
Cheers and stay warm all.0 -
Good Morning
Sam & Joanne are always present in my heart and prayers.
I just finished my 5th hour of Hammered Dulcimer workshops today. One more to go in 2 hours. Then just concerts tonight & tomorrow. Good classes. First time I have tried this many since my surgery. Big difference. In the past I would spasm into a painful pretzel when I tried to get up. Saw my new Urologist yesterday. I am getting older or they are getting younger not sure which. Docs in Crocs always makes me wonder though. Ugly tests next week by Eugene to see if we can figure out what is happening. But at least we are moving forward again. We have Paddington in Peru on our list for this week.
Steve, I took Meloxicam to try to reduce the persistent inflamation in my back for about 10 years. Side benefit was it helped with arthritic pain as well. Prolonged use can mess up your kidneys. My old Drs used to get a urine sample every year or so. I quit because my back is much better, my urine is not and after a few tough weeks I am acclimated to the arthritis again and can just use Tylenol ER as needed. My family has major issues with Arthritis as we all discussed when we were together. But my pain management studies and work have shown me acclimation versus some medication is my preferred road when possible. I never heard about a blood thinning concern though.0 -
DW not going home today, failed walking test, O2 fell to low with oxygen0

Oh, Sam! Continued earnest prayer for Joanne, and for you.0
