Good morning!
12 degrees this morning and headed down. We have a dusting of snow. We are expecting another six inches before tomorrow afternoon. This has been one of the harshest winters that we have had in many years. I don't know if Collin will be able to drive into work today or not. He'll be able to get there, but the snow is expected to get heavy before he leaves work at 2:30 a.m.
I have an eye appointment at 9:30 this morning. I have not been in over a year. I won't have any problems driving in as we just don't have that much snow yet.
I bought some crampons for my boots. I tried them out yesterday. Wow! They are awesome for the snow and ice. They have much larger spikes than the Yaktrax, but I like them. Connie won't let me wear them on the deck for fear I will tear the deck up. I see them being good for hiking later in the Spring.
We drove out to Wyandotte County Lake yesterday. There were a couple hundred Canada geese, but only half a dozen snow geese, two swans, and three or four coots.
Prayers continue for Joanne and Sam, and for Sam's DMIL.
Have a great day!0 -
Mornin' gents.
Freezing rain yesterday brought down many limbs and has turned walkways and driveways into skating rinks. Now heavy winds.
22º here. Not as harsh as KC area weather, but compared to our last winter, 180º turnaround.
Working today. New knee tomorrow. They want me there at 6:15 AM.
Onward and downward ;-)

Good morning gentlemen.
It's just normal February rain up here. It should be up to 50 degrees today. That feels balmy after the last couple months of below-normal weather.
Had a successful variety show at church yesterday: the donation basket looked full.
DGD went home with her folks last night. She is going to her dad's office with him this morning, then out to lunch before he brings her home. DGS asked to stay over with us. That means Lola Rita is making waffles for breakfast. No school today.
Prayers continue for Joanne and Sam.0 -
We are home, brought Joanne home yesterday afternoon after they got oxygen delivered. Problem is portable cylinders of oxygen are only good for 3 hours, tomorrow will have to carry two cylinders, she has two doctors appointments and I have one, at least they are all within a 3 mile radius.
Highs in 40's 40 here, rain coming in Wednesday but they say no ice or snow only in northern part of state.
Pray all are well and safe.0 -
Good Morning!
Glad to hear Joanne is home. Can't they get her an O2 Concentrator so you don't have to lug tanks around? I am glad she is past this hurdle in her journey. Praying for successful outcomes from today's visits.
Lee I find it strange you arrive around 6:30, replace the knee and hour or two later and have you walking in the afternoon. I pray for a straightforward operation and smooth progress ahead. Did you get an ice machine. They are amazing.
Temps are back up in the 50's which I now find comfortable in these on/off rain days. Yesterday I enjoyed the final two concert sessions of the Virtual Dulcimer Festival thoroughly enjoying the music. In between we ducked out to the market for a few things and dropped off the recycling bags of bottles and cans. Oven roasted a tri tip last night. Life has been chaotic for a while so I am trying to get back into a routine to make sure routine things are getting done and to get back on track finishing up the boxes and the garage. Dulcimer time will be part of the routine. I am eager to get back to making steady progress.

Good afternoon from DS’s couch in Melrose, watching their dog snooze down the other end. Drive in this morning was harrowing, starting with car doors all frozen shut and 3/8” of ice on the windows. Over an hour to clean it off. En route to highway encountered fallen electric wires and had to backtrack. At DS’s the walkways were a skating rink, but I found the ice-melt and scavanged some sand from the sandbox under the swings, and am settling in. 60 mph wind gusts made the drive even better.
Lee, best wishes for your surgery.
Bill, that’s a lot of dulcimer hammering going on there. Love the sound of those.
Sam, praying for you guys there.
