Day 4 post op.
PT gal wanted to know what my goals were. I told her I wanted to climb Kilimanjaro and then told her Nixon was the president. I enjoy messing with people sometimes. But I was not lying, I want to get back to high levels of activity without knee pain.
I do give myself 2mg of dilaudid an hour before the PT person attacks me, so I don't look like too big of a baby.
15º this morning. Still icy outside.
76% without 02 is still no bueno. Although I believe it is slightly better than it was before. The docs probably want her SP02 to be in the 90's with no supplemental 02.
What does that mean that your bladder has a small radiation spot, Bob?
-5º is about right for good dog sled racing.
Onward and downward ;-)

Good morning!
Lee, I am amazed at how quickly your knee appears to be healing. Awesome! Prayers continue. My knees hurt going up and down stairs. I believe it is arthritis. I worry about generally falling apart.
We might get above freezing today for the first time in over a week.
Prayers also for Joanne, Sam, Bill, Bob.
Have a great day!0 -
Good morning gentlemen.
Rainy day in Tumwater. I hope to play in my shop.
Knees can be mysterious things. In 2007 I couldn't trot across the street without pain. I had a big metal and plastic brace on my right knee and an elastic and rubber one on my left, just to get around. By 2010 I had lost 60 lbs., and the knees no longer caused constant pain, so I started hiking again. I still had a lot of pain on the downhill portions of hikes. I kept going, though, increasing my mileage and fitness levels. Now, my knees give me a twinge from time to time, but they really don't limit me at all. My doctor can't really explain the change. For me, pushing through the pain eventually brought relief. You can submit to the degradation of the years or do whatever it takes to hold off the decline, whether that is getting a new knee when the old one wears out or work to overcome limitations. Good Morning
I must of been fortunate with my PT. The home PT was tough, he pushed me and I felt it. The outpatient PT was great. She would push me but not to the point of serious pain or risking a fall. She was also mindful of the battle between my lower back and the necessary PT and navigated it well, working on my back a bit as necessary to the knee rehab.
Heather and I went out to lunch to a local cafe which was excellent. I had chowder. We then headed to the beach and walked for a couple of miles on a grey day with plenty of low clouds, just off shore. We stopped to rest on driftwood logs with 6 minutes to go since my back was tightening a bit. When we arrived in Oregon at the end of October, my back spasmed after about 10 minutes. Now it was just beginning to tighten after almost 2 miles. Now I am going to try to sneak out the door for a walk around the 'hood before the heavy rains we are due for the next few days start. Since we have arrived in Oregon, 3+ months ago we have had 2+ years of rain from where we used to live. We seem to have adjusted.0
