Good morning!
Ah, we inch closer to spring!
Mike, you have an amazing journey ahead of you. I hope that you have fun and enjoy the adventure.
Lee, good luck as you prepare to return to work. I hope that the swelling abates, and that you manage the pain levels for continued quick healing.
Lots of chores and related tasks again today. I also dislike grocery shopping, but I do all of the groceries.
Sam, prayers continue for Joanne and for DMIL, and for you.
Have a great day!0 -
Mornin' gents
Spring is indeed inching closer. We spring forward next week, so it will be light until almost 7 pm here.
I roasted some salmon fillets on the gas grill last night. I brought internal temp to 135° before removing from heat. I felt like that was overcooked. Next time I will remove before hits 130°.
5.5K steps yesterday. I'm back to making the trek to the barn down from our deck to feed the girls and do a walk-around at night before bringing them in through the bilco doors to the basement. You know that the main reason to get knee done was to be able to keep playing with da pooches.
I rest and ice frequently.
I ❤️ that room you are staying in, Mike. Hope you are having fun.
Onward and downward ;-)

Good morning gentlemen.
Yet another beautiful day, today, before the temperature drops 10 degrees and the rain returns tomorrow.
Rita has a CT scan, with contrast, this morning. She suffers periodic light headedness and dizziness. The neurologist wants to rule out any issues with circulation to her brain, so they are looking at blood vessels in her neck. He doesn't expect to find anything.
Our major plan for the afternoon is to give Sassy a bath. Rita washes, I dry. A big dog, with lots of hair. It would be easier if Sassy wasn't frightened by blow driers.

Morning gents.
Drove an hour north yesterday to Fort Kent for ham radio meeting — about 20 of us—and afterwards had dinner with my checkpoint partner. He’s been in ham radio for decades and has done this race several times before. On the ride back to my cabin the car thermometer read 2° below. Snowing lightly now—5” expected.
Checkpoint where I’m working today is right down the road from my cabin. We’ll stay all night, or until the sleds are all past the safety station midway to next checkpoint.
Rode along the St John river (border with Canada here) to take in the scenery. Got out to take pictures and sunk into snow up to my knees when I walked off the parking area. Meanwhile, This village is so remote its neighboring “towns” are unpopulated and have numbers instead of names. Local lake in back of my cabin has half dozen icefishing shacks and our parking lot looks like a snowmobile convention.
Thinking of Sam and DW, DMIL, and Lee’s knees so he can keep up with those pups.
Everyone — have a day filled with strength for the journey.0 -
Good Morning
Mike, what an adventure!
Yesterday was beautiful, one of the warmest we have had since we arrived. The Home and Garden show was on a different scale then the ones back in California. We looked, we talked and were gone in an hour. Later on we headed to the beach for a walk. It is just over a mile to the ocean as the crow flies, about 3-4 when you drive to the northern beach we prefer. Just as we got close the fog enveloped the coast and a steady southernly breeze was blowing in our face. We lasted a mile. Back on Hwy 101 it was blue skies and sunshine. Live and learn. We went out for a burger for dinner down along the river. The restaurant must have turned the heat off already. It was very cold in there. We skipped the post dinner walk and headed home to thaw.1 -
Yeah I had a CT scan w contrast of my head and neck once. Guess they saw something between my ears and alas no carotid artery issues when done.
Salmon fillets sound great Lee!
Wow Mike that does sound remote and cooooold. indeed!!
Good luck everyone with test and treatments.0
