13 days post op. Going in mornings this week.
Last night's dinner was super thick, super lean, brined (salt, brown sugar, and fennel) pork chops reverse seared on gas grill, then served over brown rice and topped with a peach balsamic sauce. Love that the lean cuts of pork is a zero point protein source. Pork is also the least expensive option for protein these days. 5lbs of chops was like $13. Win, win.
Never made it to the Oscars (totally not interested). Instead, continued to binge watching the second season of Night Agent with M.
Sleep has significantly improved. Still confined to sleeping on my back, but aching and throbbing is minimal. My fitbit sleep score was 73. I had no score the first week post op. Normal for me is high 70's to high 80's.
    Getting there.

    Onward and downward ;-)

    Good morning!

Lee, it sounds like good progress is being made. You also need a pole barn with heat.

Bill, when I get grumpy, Connie calls me an old curmudgeon. She even got me a sweatshirt that says that. A curmudgeon is a grumpy old man. Think Scrooge. I simply cannot imagine you being grumpy very often. You strike me as being more than patient most of the time. I'm a huge fan of your stamina and patience with all of the pain that you have endured.

    Prayers continue for Joanne.

Today is a busy day for me. In addition to weekly house cleaning chores, I also need to buy some paint for the doors as the coupon expires today (BOGO). With paint $50+ a gallon, a coupon is very much appreciated. I have not started on my taxes either, and need to get on that this week. Connie is still having IBS issues, and I'm simply running out of ideas on what to make for dinner these days.

    Have a great day!

Well, as the saying goes, a man’s pole barn is his castle—right?

Was up almost all night Saturday waiting for last dogsledder to arrive, rest and then plod to the next safety station between us and the next checkpoint/rest stop 60 miles away. Did get 2-1/2 hour snooze on my cot in the musher’s sleeping area after they left We packed up in predawn light and I napped on and off yesterday. Got caught up last night and feel human again. Packing up to go home now.

Inspiring to see how the town comes out to help with the race. Fire siren blew when the first incoming team approached the head of the lake. Seventy plus volunteers filled the gym where we stayed, cooks, vets, dog handlers, etc. I got to go out alone around midnight with a grisly-bearded woodsman who helps run the race to watch the last team come in and settle down in a field, get food and straw bedding. 84 dogs, all quiet, lined up in the dark, resting a few hours after running 62 miles. Race is still going, though two teamed have scratched; should finish tonight.

Had a great BLT and salad last night but succumbed to the special menu strawberry shortcake topped with icecream. Ughhh. Lent starts this Wednesday. I’m really going to try to focus on moderation for the 40 day season.

Six below this morning. Mountains of snow piled on roadsides and driveways here. Looking forward to getting home now. I heard the first race they held 32 years ago it was 45 below.

    Have a great day.

    Good morning gentlemen.

Prices of everything seem high, but that has been the case forever, it seems. I am of the generation that recalls chicken at 25 cents a pound, 19 cent hamburgers, and 30 cent a gallon gas. Sigh.

Very cold photos, Mike. Sounds like quite an adventure.

And here in Tumwater, near the same latitude, yesterday we spotted the first daffodils in the neighborhood. Crocuses are blooming, too.

It's supposed to be cloudy but dry today. Maybe I'll get out and ride my bike. Bob will nod approvingly.

    Good Morning

Mike, that picture of you and the snow made it seem like there was a chill in this room.

I made good progress costing out my improvements on the house. More to do but hopefully I will finish that party today. I believe I have enough to avoid capital gains on the house since we paid more that we were originally hoping to. I still need to track down my Kidney CT scan referal with the Dr. Why they need to approve their own referral is beyond me. I am eager to put this latest cancer stuff behind me. We did watch the Oscars, though we didn't see any of the main films. Hulu cut off their live stream when they were doing best actress since the show ran late as it always does. Not Hulu's finest hour. More paperwork, phone calls and grocery shopping today.
