Good morning!
Frankie has not figured out daylight savings time. She used to get me up at 5:30 or 6:00. Now it is 4:30 (today) or 5:00. Sigh….
I did some work yesterday in Connie's peonies bed. We have plants coming up. I was very stiff, and my rib hurt from raking. I will try to pick up sticks today, and maybe rake some more.
Yes, I am having a hard time adjusting to the pace of retirement. I have all of these things that I want to do around the house that I have not gotten to for years. I need to learn how to pace them out. I am not getting out with my camera, bike or kayak. I will get it sorted out.
Have a great day!

A good sleep is still a bit elusive, but at least I don' feel guilty about interfering with M's sleep with all my tossing and turning.
I am definitely experiencing a bit of DW withdrawal. She and I talk every morning over coffee since she gets up around 3 am mountain time. Whether she is here or in CO, it is the only time my mind can keep up with hers. Today we discussed if we should make another payment on my disability. It take 3 months to kick in and any payments to me will automatically discontinue when I reach 65 (January 2026). Next payment is due Monday, but my appt with ortho is Wednesday. I think all is well, but am thinking one more payment and that should allow any issues with the knee replacement to make themselves evident.
If all goes well with the knee, and there is no reason at this point to think it won't, I may be able to ski in Colorado with my DGS next year. I haven't skied since I blew out my R knee in 2001.
I do not plan on planting tomatoes or anything other than hardy herbs this year. Since we are on a well, automatic watering systems are a bit risky if there is a malfunction, and without M to cover for me on days I will not be able to water, I do not want to worry about it. Thankfully, there are plenty of good farm stands, but nothing is as good as a BLT made with an heirloom beefsteak that I grew in my garden.
New lady doc is working out great so far. She came in on her day off yesterday to scrub in on a knee surgery. She is eager to learn and is mature enough that she is aware that she doesn't know it all already. I just try and not look at all the tattoos, which I find distasteful on anyone.
Pablito doesn't have his invisible fence collar yet? That little rascal.

Morning, gents…
Frosty morning here. Doing hike in state park next town over this morning. Three waterfalls there and a pond that has waterfowl and turtles in summer. Yesterday on the rail trail ponds I saw mallards, Canada geese, a heron and a flock of maybe 100 mergansers. Too early for the turtles yet.
Noticed some flashes in both eyes after I woke this morning. Seems to have gone away but will call eye doc if it comes back.
Diet is off the rails lately and scale showing it. Back on track is what I need.
Would be wonderful to ski in Colo., Lee.

Good morning gentlemen.
My son is always pointing out to me that, at my age, I can ski for free at several of the local ski areas. But, since I last skied when I left from my first Alaska tour, in 1980, that isn't going to happen.
It was great to get out for a hike, yesterday. It wasn't a tough one, but 13 miles with a steady, but quite moderate climb, was enough to get my legs a little tired. Just what was needed for an early season warmup. Covered 13 miles with 1,340 feet of climbing, on a day warm enough that I ended in a T-shirt.

Good Morning
Good to see you back on the trails. I still laugh to myself at what you describe as easy.
Beautiful warm day yesterday. I had to change into a TShirt from my heavy long sleeve one. We made a couple trips to the transfer/recyling station to get rid of stuff that is broken or cannot be donated. Some of it, like the homemade base for the previous owners front loading laundry machines, was pretty heavy and difficult to maneuver so I was pretty stiff afterwards. But we have learned to stop. I tensed my back which helped greatly when we got home. On the way we pulled over and parked to explore a path that disappears into a dark wooded area Heather had spotted. Turns out it eventually circles over near our home. The stiff back was not enjoying the trek so we turned around and headed back to the car. Wet weather is coming back this afternoon for another stretch. So we will head to the beach for a walk. All the run off down the hills onto the beach has made it less than ideal for walking but it should have calmed down by now. Then back into the garage to reorganize so we can shift things out there for now.

Steve, remember to do list; schedule what you can reality accomplish then take 10% off and do something fun. Map out about 2 weeks at a time or 10 days following weather forecast.
Have not decided whether to fool with garden or not. Surgery on shoulder Monday then eye lid surgery 10 April and DW's surgery is scheduled for May 9th followed up with 6 weeks of radiation 5 days a week, my physical torture starts April 4th twice a week for 25 weeks. Did hire a yardman for April and May, telling him I may need to extend.
