You were warned it was coming!
We are doing The Pantry Challenge this week.
Now the parameters of this challenge have been suggested by your folks, and there is lots of room for personal modification and adaptation.
Ideally, you are going to live off of current food stocks in the house--the weirdnesses at the back of the freezer, the leftovers in the fridge. Hopefully this means you will only be walking to the store for fresh fruit and veggies this week.
Now some of you are going to encounter stuff from your old lives. You are going to have to assess each item on a case by case basis--is it something that can be made to fit into your healthy new lifestyle with a bit of portion control and a generous side salad to fill you up?
Take a close look at the boxes, tins, and pouches in your cupboards. A tin of mandarin orange segments packed in water might make a lovely dessert this week. A tin of peach halves in heavy syrup might be better used as a food bank donation.
Your objectives here are two fold. One, you are going to need to take stock, and make some decisions about what you will and will not eat anymore. Secondly, you might save a little money.
By the end of the week you will have cleared space in the fridge and cupboards that you can fill up again with nothing but healthy choices.
People like me, who live the vida bachelor, may not have the depth of reserves to undertake this challenge wholeheartedly, but it is still worth taking the time to see what you have accumulated in the fridge and cupboard, and decide if it is something you can or even want to fit into your new world orders.
Feel free to adapt the spirit of the challenge to your individual circumstances.
There is no right or wrong way to approach this challenge. So, you cannot fail, you can only have varying degrees of success!
Good logging and good luck.

Sounds great, I only ever shop once a week and I did that last week, so we do have to live off what we got. I bought fresh fruit and extra veggies. I like this challenge, but when I am reading each label, like I am learning to do and getting some big shockers, I am also going to start getting rid of some stuff. We have a shelf for food bank donations and I plan to make a donation really soon.
I think Mark that this is an interesting challenge, and will especially make people plan ahead a little bit!0 -
Shouldn't be a problem here, we went shopping last week and stocked up!0

I just cleaned out my fridge and pantry. I gave all my "holiday" cookie/cake stuff, (4 cloth bags) to my niece so she can bake with her two young daughters.
Great Idea!
My pantry still has some "no-no" for me foods. I live with my hubby who has never been overweight and my 21 year old son. I can resist the pop tarts, pizza and beer:bigsmile:0 -
BTL: I also live with people who enjoy the food but I have put my foot down about the junk coming in the house right now I struggle to much for it to sit around if they want crap food they have to consume it immediately or not have it all! Even if they don't have weight problems that doesn't mean they can eat what they want! Even skinny people can be unhealthy from food! Weight and healthy are not inclusive to each other! You can be over weight and healthy and you can be skinny and have an unhealthy nutrition.0
