Rainy spring morning here; 55º. Rain held off yesterday for the party at DD's. Lot's of kids there—they really liked DSIL's frog pond. It's got a small waterfall as well. Nice to see folks having a nice time. DD's MIL came to the church but not her husband who is in the hospital. Lost 50 lbs. mystery illness plus blood disorder they are beginning to treat.

Nice pickerel, Lee. (Or is that a bass?) I have a trolling motor I picked up at a yard sale for 10 bucks for my canoe, but haven't used in several years. Should try it out again.

Need to get the coffee pot up and running… have a good day.

    Mornin' gents.

The spots on the fins identify it as a Northern Pike. I didn't messure the length, but am guessing 20 + inches. That would be a monster pickerel. The lake I was fishing used to be managed for pike, but I guess the powers that be decided that the population was doing a good enough job propagating itself, so the program was discontinued. I would say the population is down since they stopped. I also hooked into a small and a large mouth bass.

Looks like we are in for some rainy days until Thursday.

    Onward and downward ;-)

    Good morning!

Lee, nice fish! I have not been fishing for a few years now. I'm not sure if I really miss it or not.

I'm headed to a local nursery with Connie this morning to pick out plants for the cemetery. The city maintenance manager will meet us there at 10:30 to use his credit card to pay for $200 of the plants. This is the first time the city has actually helped with the planter costs. We paid about $300 last year. Connie has an eye appointment this afternoon, so I will be mowing then.

My knees have really been hurting on stairs. Arthritis. I'm trying to figure out some exercises that will help. I think more bike, including stationary, and some weight lifting might help. How do you know when to talk with the docs about possible treatment or replacement?

    Have a great day!

    Good morning gentlemen.

Looks like a beautiful day, out here: 72 and sunny. We have to head on post this morning, then we'll see what the day brings.

I'd be very careful about weights, unless you have already cleared it with an ortho doc, Steve. Other than that, osteoarthritis generally is helped by exercise. My solution for everything is walking - a lot.

    Good Morning,

ROMEO's this morning, now need to get to PT

Cool this morning but will warm into 70's

My experience is the more aerobic exercise the lower the pain, that said rheumatologist last week told me I may be trying to overdo to activities; I still have not attempted planting anything in garden.

    Good Morning

    Nice Fish Lee!

Its warming up here. We should be in the mid 60s for several days. I may need to get out and water some of the plants tonight. Yesterday we went up the coast to the various tidepools. Very low tides exposed a lot of rocky areas. The ocean was active and the winds gusting. Lots of folks were scampering on the rocks. We don't as much scamper much but mostly try to get sure footing. Lots of Sea Anemonies, crabs, snails and some starfish. We had a nice walk later on the beach at the mouth of the Yachats river. A very flat beach. Very low tides opened up a large expanse of sand. I fired up my Weber for the first time and nailed a reverse sear on a tri tip with a dry rub. I haven't done that in almost a year. I nailed it. Tasty, juicy and pretty tender. When the winds are whipping up it is pretty easy to get the coals nice and hot quickly for the sear. No specific plans for today. I tuned my dulcimer and penny whistle yesterday morning so I will restart my daily practice/playing.

We are officially part of the Florence community. Our first of many Rhododendrons began to bloom yesterdays. They are in most yards. Many of our neighbors have some early bloomers. Now we can attend the Rhody festival in a few weeks and hold our head up.
