I watched nine perfect strangers on neflix (?) It was good, I have the book too but haven't read it. It is wellness retreat, but that's a very broad and not really specific at least in the series.
I had a good time, too! And @micaroo4 I know he says 1% in the book, but I don't think that means literally 1%. Just small changes. In the example with the bikers, it was change what they wore, changed the bike. That's not 1% but little small changes will add up over time.

I had the same thought about the 1% improvement @lauren_989 and @micaroo4. I was trying to think of a good example related to walking - like switching up the intensity (add hills), duration (shorter time to achieve the same number of steps), or distance (at a faster pace) - but none of those ideas seemed to fit @micaroo4’s situation. So, I’m glad you remembered the story from the (British?) cycling team in the book @lauren_989!
With the steps measure, it could be a 1% increase every month instead of every day, but your point is well-taken that 10,000 steps is probably enough for you @micaroo4.
I like your MOVE habit. Thanks for sharing another good idea!
Personally, I don’t react well to the timer and alarm prompts, but most people do well with that strategy, I think. I keep trying the Pomodoro technique but I haven’t mastered it yet. Once I get focused, I can work for hours, but I’d like to improve my consistency — at least 1% 😉!

We decided to continue reading together and agreed that our next book should be a mystery!
Next steps: please offer a few mystery titles (with the authors for consideration. Once we get enough, I’ll put together a survey and we’ll vote!
I found two books and Nancy said I should list them both, so here they are:
- Too Old For This, by Samantha Downing (comes out Aug 12th)!!
2. The Housemaid, by Freida McFadden
Read the synopsis on goodreads.com and a few reviews and see what you think…these both sound great to me!

I prefer reading a new release, something that none of us has already read. I prefer to stay away from books that are part of a series unless it's book #1 of the series. But I like mysteries, so I'm game for whatever.

FUN! I would love to join for the next book! Awesome ideas! 💡

Hi! All the titles sound great!
Time Under Tension (A Kelsey James Fitness Mystery Book)
by Kristina Fox (Author)
4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars (16)
I have read a book by the author Liane Moriarty (recommended above) and really enjoyed her writing style. I have not read the below mystery fitness theme book that she wrote:
"Nine Perfect Strangers" by Liane Moriarty
Hope everyone is having a great Saturday!

Hi everyone:
We've had a lot of terrific suggestions for our next read! I've narrowed down the choices to 10 (avoiding books in a series). Take some time to review the titles (you can find them on Goodreads, Amazon, Libby, etc.), and please try to submit your responses by this weekend. I will then tally the votes and we can pick a date for our next meeting! Thanks!

Just fyi, the secret of secrets doesn't come out until 9/9 and it's the 6th book of the series. That said I am excited because I love the series!

Great books! Excited to vote!
FYI, comes out 10/14/2025
Gone Before Goodbye Hardcover – October 14, 2025by Harlan Coben (Author), Reese Witherspoon (Author)

Right now, it's pretty close between Nine Perfect Strangers (with just a smidge of a lead), Fit to be Dead, and Time Under Tension. So if you haven't voted yet, please do so asap! Thanks.

AND THE WINNER IS…
Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty
I’ll put together a Google form over the weekend so we can choose a meeting date.

@nancyinmiami Teensy suggestions, but if we're going to do this monthly, why not do every third Wednesday or every second Tuesday…something set, so that everyone can begin to work the consistency into their schedules…and I think 7:30pm worked well…and let's go ahead and pick the next book so we're always a month in advance (gives time to find/purchase/read books, so when you begin the questions during a month, you'll have a more productive discussion). Feel free to ignore my suggestions…they're just that…SUGGESTIONS. This is your baby. I am completely driven by scheduling everything in advance…for instance, I just bought groceries for next week and have already started the following week's grocery list. LOL It's a gift or a curse, depending upon point of view.
How's your MIL doing, Nancy? Oh, your friend is on the roster now…just need her first name for the chart. Can't wait to start hearing from her…going to welcome her shortly…her first weigh-in is Tue.

AND THE WINNER IS…
Nine
Perfect
Strangers
by Liane MoriartyI'm so excited to read this selection…FYI, I just purchased it on ebay for $3.98 with free shipping and there are many to choose from, with some sellers offering BOGO offers, with free shipping. I picked up 3 books for the price of two, which was still cheaper than any 2nd hand book shop…and with free shipping, I didn't have to go anywhere!
Should be a fun read.

@jessicakrall8 I agree. So if we do the third Wednesday of every month, that would make our next meeting August 20. Or should we start that schedule in September? Can everyone finish the book by then?
What are everyone’s thoughts?
Oh, and my friend’s name is Arlene Bright (we’re actually related 😊)

I guess we should wait until Sept to start the 3rd Wednesday schedule…I ordered my book today so hoping to have it mid-week. Should have read it by the last week of August…could we do Wed, the 27th of Aug? I still can't believe July flew by like it did!! Time flies…

I ordered the book today, and it should arrive next week.

I can't do the 3rd wednesday of the month, but don't let that stop you from meeting this day. The 3rd wednesday happens to be when my book club meets 😂
2 -
@lauren_989 not a problem. I’m certainly not wedded to that date.
When I originally sent out a survey, Wednesday was the most popular day. So how about the 4th Wednesday of every month?Thoughts everyone?
2 -
I will be away for August, but normally Wednesday works for me.

Any other day works for me!

Hi all:
We will meet to discuss Nine Perfect Strangers in September. I have attached a Google survey for you to choose our meeting date for this book and for our future meetings. I’d also like you to choose our next genre. Thanks very much!
1 -
Great! I have started the book and I will vote now!

And we have a winner…..
So our regularly-scheduled meeting day will be the 4th Wednesday of each month. So we will meet to discuss Nine Perfect Strangers on Wednesday, September 24, at 7:30 pm EDT. I’ll send out a Zoom invite a few days before. If I don’t have your email and you’d like to join us, please message me with your email address.
Our October meeting will be on Wednesday, October 22 at 7:30, and you have overwhelming voted for Historical Fiction. So please submit a title or two of your historical fiction recommendations!
*The 4th Wednesday of November and December are holiday weeks, so please think about whether we should reschedule to a different week or if you’d like a break for the holidays.
