Newbie ~ June 2025 ~ TTLWL

Hi, I'm Sofie and I'm almost 54. Got a birthday coming around the corner! I'm a retired first responder and veteran. My health started to decline, most significantly, three years ago. I have finally been diagnosed with a heart issue, so now I know what I can and can't do anymore…lol. I say that, to entertain the fact that I know what lies up ahead for me and also, so I maintain the fact that losing weight is no longer an option for quality of life. I also keep it light, when talking about heart disease because it runs in my dad's side of the family. It's serious, but I don't want to waste my time feeling bad or scared about it. A sense of humor definitely can keep you healthier and I speak of this by watching my own father's life, through each phase, slowly change. He kept exercising, even if it was only lifting his legs in bed and turning his head from side to side (did I mention he was a football coach). Yeah, something to remind me, each day, as I get back on this track of maintaining a healthier lifestyle. Dad passed this January and we were all able to be there, so we had a bitter sweet ending (at least we were all there beside him). We miss him, but we must regroup and get back on track. So, I'm here now, on MFP. I'm from Alabama and I don't travel much these days, but I would like to improve my health so that I can by next year. I am currently overweight by 100 lbs, but I'm setting each goal at around 20 lbs., so that I will stay motivated and not deflated with progress. I'm looking forward to more inspiration and tips from the group~ Sofie
