Let's talk about how

Saying we are going to loose 20 pounds by Halloween is great and all, but I would like to talk about the how we are going to do it also. Kind of like an amendment. What are you guys planning to do to help you loose the weight and what can we do to help keep each other going, and to be accountable for our efforts. Below the dotted line is a great option, but it doesn't work for me just yet.

I know each of us is able to log workouts and they show up in our feed (so and so has burned 300 calories doing 27 minutes of Elliptical Trainer), and we are also able to click "complete this entry" in our food diaries at the end of each day, ("so and so has completed her food and exercise diary for 07/06/2013 and was under her calorie goal.")

Would anyone be willing to also add me as a friend and stating what your goals are for each of us to comment. like,"This is work out #1 of 3, and it's only day 2. 5 more days to go to get those last two in! Keep going!"

Sorry if this doesn't make a lot of sense, and I'm not that great with words. Hope others would like to do this with me.

There's this app called gympact that I think is great. You download it to your phone, and use GPS and WIFI to show your location, then check in at the gym you're working out at and stick around for at least 30 minutes, while you are supposedly working out. (Only cheating yourself if you don't) and you make a pact each week, Say you make the pact that you will work out 3 times a week or you will give $5 each time you don't. You start the week off and only work out once. Well, then you give $5 to group of people who did make their pact. Worked out only once but said you would 3 times? Then you give up $10. The plus side? Other than being accountable for doing what you said you would and working out, you also get your share of the money paid out by people who didn't. While you only average about $1.50 per day you work out, you aren't giving up any money and you had a damn good reason to be sure you actually worked out.

I love the idea behind this app, however I do not love that it only works for checking into a gym. If you have a home elliptical or something like I do, then you are left with only one option to still use to app, which is the Jawbone up. I have the Fitbit, so... lame. They also have GymPact anywhere, IF you have an iPhone. Or if you like to run or bike, and can keep it up for 30 minutes they work with run keeper. They are trying to me more usable to more people, while still maintaining that people can't cheat the system. I know it's not easy, I just hope they start working with fit bit soon.

My plan is as follows --

Food -- Stay under calorie goal as often as possible. There will be days it may be over when I visit my mom (she still hasn't re-done her kitchen so we have to eat out for all meals) And I'll try to drink as much water as I can.

Exercise -- I will be starting the slim in 6 program on 9/15. It's a 6 week program that's supposed to help take off the inches. I know it can work. I've never completed the entire 6 weeks but once before I made it to week 3 and had lost a few inches from thighs, etc.
I have a treadmill and will try to walk at least 20-30 minutes a day. Then Oct. 6 I will start the c25k program (Couch to 5K Program) and try to work my way to jogging for half an hour.

I plan to take the slow and steady approach. I'm hoping it will be easier to stick with it that way.

My plan is to stay within my calorie and carbs goal and will workout 3 times per week. I will also read two books on nutrition, wellness and weight loss to help me figure out how I let myself get to such an unhealthy place and how not to go back there again.

My plan is as follows: I have a trainer at the gym I see twice a week. Other than that I like to take my dog on long walks if there is time. I also have an xbox w/Kinect and Dance Central game that I will dance several songs in workout mode until I burn 2-300 cals. maybe more at least once a week. I will stay close to my calorie goal just lowered it even though the other goal was still working for me. I may let myself go over a few times a week by two or three hundred and not feel guilty. I also go out every now and then on Fridays. I do drink a few drinks. I make sure I have the cals available. I also dance my *kitten* off at the bar!!! :) Even when watching what goes in you can still enjoy yourself!!! :)

I will hit my goal! I have no doubt of that!!! :drinker:

My plan is to watch my diet and drink water. Today I burned 550 calories. But from tomorrow, I'll walk 1 hour in the morning. Then in the noon or evening 30 min. elliptical. I will use striiv app. It motivates me so much to walk. Every day I see how many steps my friends have done and I really striiv to beat them in walking. lol.

Hello! I may not lose 20 pounds, but I would be happy if I lost around 12. I plan to do it by not eating my calories back from exercising. I think that's what I've been doing wrong. I will continue exercising, drink water, log everything I eat, and avoid having tempting foods around.

I am turning down going to a picnic on Thursday because I know it would be too hard for me to resist. I love picnic food, so it's best not to put myself in the situation.

I HAVE to lose at least 12 pounds, because we are moving someplace colder in October and I can't even fit into my cold-weather clothes right now.

I guess I don't have an actual set plan, but I set a goal for myself to go to the gym at least 2x a week and keep up with a challenge that I am doing in another group I am in (squats, wall push-ups, crunches are my daily exercises for the challenge). I guess that as well as keep at or under my calorie goal would be what I would be doing for this goal :)

I use GymPact too and love it. Although it is kinda unreliable as far as funds updating, it has made me get off my A** on days I would have just said forget it, because i didn't want to pay $5.
My plan is to eat 1200 net cals, and work out (even if it is just a 30 minute walk) every single day.

I am not sure about Gympact since I live in Germany and I am not sure if they have locations for gyms here registered and I also have to pay for mobile internet soo... anyway my plan is to keep my eating as clean as possible without having cheat days! Before I used to have 1 cheat day a week, which was usually Friday with frozen pizzas, chips, ice cream.. you get the idea. I started taking this supplement Hyper Shred a couple of days ago. It is a fat burner but in order to get optimum results you have to train a lot and also eat clean. I also plan to stay with my workout program (Focus T25) I never managed to stick to a workout till the very end (like EVER!) I am in my 6th week at the moment and I am pretty proud of myself that I am sticking with it for so long now. I additionally go to the gym 2-3 time a week. Now I have a gym buddy so I am even more motivate to go. I am a cheerleader so I have 2 kickass practices per week too. Anyway as I've mentioned in a previous post I don't think that 20 lbs is reachable for me (that is 20 lbs in 7 weeks which is more than 2 lbs of loss per week!) if I manage to reach 10 lbs I will be extremely happy!

My plan is to continue my workouts on the Insanity program, I started September 2nd so I'm only on week 2. I also try to follow the paleo diet (no grains and no dairy) for the majority of my meals. I am also going to try to cut down on the cheat days!

I'm just gonna continue what I've been doing the past 3 weeks. Stay under calorie goal, continue hitting the gym or doing some type of activity 5-6 days a week. It's not much of a plan, but the change in my way of eating compared to what it was a month ago is HUGE... I also am pretty large and have a lot to lose to begin with, so I figure 20lbs is realistic for me in this timeframe without killing myself over it... don't wanna lose the 20 in a hurry and gain it all back by Thanksgiving, heh. Tomorrow's weigh-in day, isn't it? :)

My plan is to keep under the 1200 calories, which hasn't been too hard so far as I am on a 28 day supervised nutrition plan right now in order to get my previously BAD eating habits back under control. It consists of 2 meals a day and 3 shakes a day. However, the last two weeks I have been working 12 hours a day so I have been doing 1 meal a day and 3 shakes a day. I also drink 1/2 of my body weight in ounces of water. (Ex. if you weight 300 lbs, you would drink 150 oz of water a day). I just added back coffee yesterday as I couldn't stand not having it any longer. But, I limit myself to 2 cups.

I am at the gym 5 days a week at 5am. It's the only time I can get there and not take away from my family. I don't attend a traditional gym, I attend one of the boot-camp style/cross fit type of gyms. So it's typically a smaller group with a trainer, it's much more personalized and they can easily correct you or help you if you need it.

I've taken this new approach. I lost 70 pounds over 4 months a few years ago doing a diet clinic, and shocker (LOL) it all came back on with a vengeance when I stopped going. So, here we go again, but with the mindset of doing it in a healthy manner this time. Slow and steady wins the race.
