Just caught up reading all the posts since Saturday…after getting home Saturday night, I have been super busy with various things, but especially with the vet clinic that I just signed an offer with this AM. I will be working 3 - 10 hour days (30 hrs is considered full time) at a practice where they have all the surgery equipment I need to do orthopedics and soft tissue procedures. The desperately need a surgeon, and although I didn't think I wanted full time, I do want this. About 20 minutes from our home in Monument, and 10 minutes from grandson! Beautiful facility. $10K relocation bonus to boot.
Congrats on the good result on your B-cell indolent lymphoma, Bob. As you know, it is important to keep tabs on things, and your resilience and perseverance are inspiring.
Yeah, Bill, I tried stopping the little bit of gabapentin (100mg) that I was taking at night with my regular tylenol ER, but body aches started breaking through the tylenol ER. Gabapentin not only works on the pain via neurotransmitter interference, but it also helps with muscle spasm.
Did they start DMIL on trazodone, Sam? Just curious. You and Joanne will figure it out. The sound of relatives' advice has got to be relatively annoying.
Steve, sounds like you hit a home run with the breaded chicken recipe. High five!
Very cool that your DS and DDIL are going to attempt that kind of hunt, Dave. Two people should be able to pack out a black tail or a muley. I am not sure that I am in that good a shape, yet. Hope the Bear Gulch fire has abated.
Smoke from Canada is dissipating here.
I have a very accomplished field trial male dog here to mate with my little Lucy. All the tests say she is ready to breed, but Lucy ain't having any of it yet.
Onward and downward ;-)

Mornin'
I thought I was late checking in… 10 AM and only second on board.
Did another hike this morning. Forgot to check in yesterday, did a hike yesterday morning too, while it was cool. Next several days supposed to get into 90's here. Some of the family are camping tomorrow in the White Mtns and doing some serious hiking. Too hot for me; even the work of camping would be too much in the heat, unless we were at a waterfront site, but nowhere to swim nearby there. Beautiful country there, though.
We had a nice going away dinner for DGD who flies to Micronesia tomorrow for a year of teaching with the Jesuit volunteer corps. I remember when she could sit on my knee… sigh.
Bob, that's real good news about your bloods. Hope the prostate tests turn out also good.
Don't know if I mentioned, I think I am now eligible for SS benefits on top of my state worker pension. I talked to a guy (real human being!) and it sounds like it should sail through. Have a phone appointment in September. It will be a big help in moving forward toward buying a house, making that goal more feasible. I had no idea and then I read an article in my retiree assn. newsletter. A surprise out of the blue…
Have a good day everyone. Onward and downward….

Good Morning
Congratulation's Lee on the new gig. When does all this happen?
We had a drizzly day yesterday which was rather nice and a reminder of the rains that will be returning in a couple of months. I am still having some soreness and nerve pain and have started taking Tylenol ER again until it abates. I got rid of all my Gabapentin but the nerve pain is intermittent and more of an annoyance than anything. We are off to the local cinema this afternoon. They are having a free showing of the old film The Thin Man. We scored 2 tickets. We will walk over and back. Heather and my son will go tonight to see a free showing of Gremlins. I will use that time as on opportunity to do an initial reading of a new module in my Noviate training.

Yeah as I suspected my prostate tests can put "good" too. Turns out the ultrasensitive PSA just gives one more decimal point to the answer. My prostate Doc is nicest guy ever and genuinely likes to talk to his patients and individualize their treatment plans. He also bikes to work and also is certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). Maybe ask him some more hints for conditioning in us older guys next time. He is very pleased with the tests and results so far.
We started out with drizzle in the a.m. yesterday morning and ended up in a brief but very heavy rain shower in the evening (my Davis Instruments weather station put out the "Raining Cats and Dogs" message on the bottom of the read out). Not much total but we'll take anything. Hi of about 71 deg.
Will bump up into the lo 90s by Sat, 97deg on Sunday and lo 90s on Monday. Hope my Brandywine tomatoes which are plenty large start to ripen soon.
Sadly gabapentin didn't work for me when I would have benefited from it.
Gosh it has been years since I saw The Thin Man movie.
Have fun at the movies Bill

Good Afternoon,
Emmaus breakfast this morning,
Took Pablo to Doggie Daycare,
Me and DW took road trip to old old hood, where I had a bank account; learned account had gone dormant; now will have to go through state to get money.
Last night DMIL was still off her rocker and DS could not get cuckoo back in clock. But trying to allow time for meds to work.
New gig sounds great Lee, how long are they willing to wait?
