Whew. My past few days have been very intense, but enjoyable. Rolling out of bed and getting caffeinated while I have a short phone call with M, then dealing with dogs and other non work related responsibilities, then either going to work or working at the two day hunt test my club sponsored this weekend.

My younger dog Lucy (4 yrs) is in heat and I decided to breed her and have a litter before heading out to Colorado. It kind of messes up my fall field trialing, because she is my primary dog. Babe (11.5 yrs) is in her farewell trial season. I have wanted to breed back into this line of dogs since last year. Last year was a failed breeding to the father of the dog I currently bred Lucy to, so same line. Once in Colorado, his availability will be greatly diminished. The sire, named "Larry", came to stay with me and the girls and I was in charge of taking care of him and supervising the breedings. All went well, but it was a lot. Then I had to travel halfway to New Jersey to hand him back to his owner last night.

It feels good to have a job line up for Colorado. I will continue to have benefits, so will only need Medicare plan A, I believe. And it will be a decent paycheck so I can easily afford a tractor and to build my barn with man cave.

Patience and persistence, Mike. You certainly are active enough recently, I would bet the scale will start moving downward so long as you can keep it up. I love walking and hiking. I hope to be doing a lot more once in Colorado. We have lots of trails up into Mt Herman nearby.

Great news about your PSA, Bob. Hope the tomatoes did not go dormant with the cold.

Joanne still on schedule for her last round of chemo? I know she is looking forward to being done with treatment.

Episcopal labyrinth. Is that a physical place or a metaphor? A former Episcopal priest's kid wants to know.

    Onward and downward ;-)

    Good morning!

Lee, you have a great deal going on right now, but it all sounds good. Congratulations on your job in Colorado!

We have shed the rain, and now it is just going to be very hot and humid for the next several days. Ugh! I'm ready for a change in weather. The Farmer's Almanac says we are going to have a lot of snow this winter. I'm ready. I have a brand new snow thrower that hasn't even been started yet. Bring it!

Several things still going on around here. The bathroom door is in and painted. Now I have the floor baseboards to do. I sort of like that work. Figuring out the returns (ends of the cut) is a challenge and forces me to think it through and not rush it. The baseboards are stained, they just have to be measured, cut, and tacked in place.

I want to work outside, but I think I need to give it another day to dry out a bit. It will be hot, but a lot needs to be done. We lost a good size limb on our smoke bush. I also have a crabapple to cut down. It has been dead for a couple of years now. My garden is completely overgrown with weeds and I have a few cucumbers to rescue. I think we are about done with tomatoes. They really didn't do anything this year, but we did get several dozen cherry tomatoes.

    Have a great day!

    Good morning gentlemen.

Active is good. So there seems to be a lot of good going on here.

I really got it wrong on yesterday's hike. I thought it was going to be 10-12 miles and it ended up at 15, with 2,684 feet of vertical. Much of the hike was above tree line, too and exposed to sun that felt a lot warmer than the thermometer would have said. Pretty tiring, but glad I went.

Today won't be as much fun. I have a 2-hour dental appointment to replace a crown on one of my front teeth. Oh joy - not.

Sorry I have been AWOL last few days.

Nice Photo Dave and amazing hike indeed. 98deg here yesterday and 99deg+ on Sunday. Thought it might feel hot for you and your hike. Good luck with the dentist and all your crowning glory!!

Looks like Lee is busy busy w her babes and all. I don't think the one brief hour or two will prevent ripening of my Brandywine from what I read. Night time lows now in the 60s which should help.

Bill: In 1997 I rode Cycle Oregon X from Nyssa Oregon (on the Idaho Border) to Yachats on the Oregon Coast. I have ridden thru covered bridges on some of my adventures including the delightful Petal Pedal ride out of Silverton Oregon where I rode thru the GALLON HOUSE BRIDGE (built 1916 and was a drop-off point for bootleg liquor).

I like your hikes Mike. My B.P. is crazy hi in the Dr office sometimesmaybe even 170 over 80+ but also has been 118/48 too. They think sometimes I am just stressed waiting for lab results etc from my cancers. ehh probably so although I often read them ahead of time.

Yesterday a bx of a spot on my lower rt arm checking to rule out SQ Cell cancer. Turns out that this new skin doc is married to the Doc who did the MOHS surgery on my right ear a few years ago. Nice guy too.

    cheers

    Good Afternoon,

One day this week without appointments.

You all inspire me to want to do more, just need more energy and time. We have had so much rain weeds and grass is taking over where my garden usually goes.

Our high's are only in 80's this week and would appreciate it if each of you will keep your 90's and + temps to yourself and not send this way.
