October Week 1 Group Challenge - Tracking Micronutrients

This week's challenge was another user requested one…we will be Tracking Micronutrients for the week! Here's a list of both vitamins and nutrients that fall under this category. Which 1-3 will you track this week? Build your list and report in daily to let us know how it's going! Are there any others you need to track because you have TOO MUCH of it?

Personally, I have a tendency to have too much potassium, and have to watch my banana consumption (unfortunately I ADORE bananas). Also, have to watch my sodium and so I'm careful not to add salt, but as we all know, nearly everything has too much sodium. Are there are deficiencies for which you take a daily supplement? I am low on Vitamin D and Iron. I take a daily dose of selenium as it helps my underactive thyroid.

Looking forward to seeing which ones you will track this week and why. If you have any tips or tricks for adding them into your routine, please share your secrets. Let's have a good week!

Jessica

I'm going to track calcium, sodium, and vitamin C. I never paid that much attention to these but I should keep an eye on my sodium and I want to make sure I get enough calcium and vitamin C.

I take Areds2 for macular degeneration. Areds2 contains vitamins C and E, and minerals zinc, selenium, and copper. I also take magnesium and vitamin D. I'll track sodium and potassium.

I have a vitamin d deficiency. I also have to track my potassium and phosphorus to make sure they don't get to high.

How am I supposed to track my phosphorus and vitamin d if the app doesn't have them in the nutrition group?

I am going to track sodium. I have fluctuating blood pressure and know this will help.

Also, blood pressure guidelines recently changed from recommending a max of 2,000mg of sodium daily to 1,500mg of sodium daily 😯

@alleykat69 Every month, the MODS post a tracker spreadsheet and it allows you to list anything you want to track. Then each day when you’re logging your foods, google the foods you ate looking for those nutrients. Also you might want to find a search list for foods with those nutrients.

I have also been advised to follow a low sodium diet, so that is what I will be tracking. Thanks @lauren_989 for calling attention to the change in the recommended intake. I went ahead and changed the amount in my goals.

I've been in bed all weekend, with what started out as a horrible allergy attack and quickly went into a chest cold, with chills, fever and the works. Stayed home from work to try and rest but it's hard to lie down without coughing myself silly.

Eating mostly leftovers and frozen meals…but that's the best I can do when I feel like crud.

    Welcome to allergy season! UGH!

If you go to “My groups,” and find the Fat2Fit group, there’s a list of all the resources, announcements, and documents.

The October Habit Tracker page includes more detailed instructions on how to access and use the spreadsheet. Click “view post” below to read the instructions:

And, here’s the direct link to the spreadsheet:

I'm watching sodium and potassium this week…been limiting my bananas. Sodium…is SO hard because it pops up in EVERYTHING it seems! At least I'm aware and checking it…best I can do. Hope you guys are doing better than I am! This is hard!

    Sodium today: 2,900 mg 😯

I thought I did good too! I have not been tracking every day, which is not helpful for numerous reasons. I need to get back to it! Just some days I feel like, do I really want to track for the rest of my life?
