So my fiance has a very common first and last name...think John Smith.

I love the names Kyle (my Grandpa), George (my Great Grandpa), Seth, or Ty.

He isn't too hip on the names since there are other's out there with that name. He wants something unique. I dont want too crazy unique. I think a nice strong name that can carry him into manhood would be good.

Can you help me with any ideas that might be a good go between?

    Well, I work with babies as my job and honestly, I do not see a lot of any of those names. Aiden, Brayden, Cayden, Jayden, yes. But those are actually not that common, at least for babies.
    Maybe if he showed you a list of names he likes, if you liked one of them you could go with it.

    I like Ty, and I don't think it's common at all (and I worked in the childcare field for 20+ years, so I met literally thousands of children).

    I LOVE the name Charlie! I know Charlie isn't on your favorites, but there's something about it that screams strong, respectful and charming. (:

    Edited to remove the random 's' I put after "name" (;

    That's what my husband and I were planning on doing....each making a list then using veto power on each other, and seeing what was left over.

    We actually ended up with our #1 pick when I told his cousin (a man I adore but my hubby's family isn't very close with because they disagree with his lifestyle) we were expecting and he shot back winner after winner. I told my husband and he fell in love with at least one of them. I think we'll secretly get a little kick out of the fact that the "black sheep" from the family will likely be the one who came up with the name for our child! It just clicked with both of us, once we heard it.

    Being a teacher, I beg of you.... please, please, please use classic spelling (whatever the name). I butcher so many names because they are spelled so oddly!!!

    I made a list of names I liked and shared the ideas with him. I would definitely go that route where you both write down names. My options are pretty limited though because we want the name to fit with our other children. They begin with the letter J and end with an N. We decided on the first name for this little one but now we're having a problem with the middle name.
