JOEL PROPHESIES A FINAL JUDGEMENT
Hasten and come, all you surrounding nations, and gather yourselves there. Bring down, O Lord< Thy mighty ones. Let the nation be aroused and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat, for there I will sit to judge all the surrounding nations. Joel 3:11-12
Jerusalem will be the site of the world's last and greatest battle as all the surrounding nations rage against the Holy City. However, the powerful, almighty God of the universe will intervene on Israel's behalf.
"And the Lord roars from Zion and utters His voice from Jerusalem, and the heavens and the earth tremble. But the Lord is a refuge for His people and a stronghold to the sons of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God, dwelling in Zion, My holy mountain. So Jerusalem will be holy, and strangers will pass through it no more" (Joel 3:16-17)
God gave the prophet Isaiah a similar message: "For the law will go forth from Zion, and the word of the Lord from Jursalem. And He will judge between the nations" (Isaiah 2:3-4)
When will the last and greatest battle take place? At the end of the age, when Christ comes back to conquer all those who have attempted to ravage His people and their city. "And I looked, and behold, a white cloud, and sitting on the cloud was one like a son of man, having a golden crown on His head, and a sharp sickle in His hand" (Revelation 14:14)
PRAYER----Lord, I don't like to consider the brutality of this final judgement. However, I know that You are fair and just and have given men and women ample time and warning to repent.
