Renewing Our Minds
Present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:1-2
Mary had lived an exemplary life and was betrothed to Joseph. Then an angel came with an announcement that would cast a shadow of doubt on her impeccable character. God had asked Mary to bear His Son.
Leaving the results of this decision in the hands of her powerful God, Mary accepted her role as the mother of the Messiah. And during the difficult days which followed, she allowed the Word of God to renew her mind. But was that enough to give her sufficient power to obey the Lord?
The apostle Paul answers this question for us. "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying speculations and every lofty raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:3-5)
The weapons which God provides for us are spiritual. We must become proficient with such and arsenal before such can be effective. So, if the Lord says His Word is a weapon to be used against the enemy, we've got to read it, know it, and follow it.
PRAYER----Lord, I am grateful for Mary's example.
