ESTHER IS CHOSEN
Then the king's attendants, who served him said, "Let beautiful young virgins be sought for the king. And let the king appoint overseers in all the provinces of his kingdom that they may gather every beautiful young virgin to Susa the capital, to the harem, into the custody of Hegai, the king's eunich, who was in charge of the women; and their cosmetics be given them. Then let the young lady who pleases the king be queen in place of Vashti." Ester 2:2-4
The search was on for "the fairest maiden of them all." The book of Esther is a beautiful story of a woman's absolute faith and trust if her God. God placed Esther in a position of authority---in order to save the people of Israel.
Mordecai, a Jew in Susa, had returned from the Babylonian exile and was raising his orphaned niece, Esther. And she was "beautiful of form and face...Esther was taken to the king's palace" Esther 2:5-8
Wisely, "Esther did not make known her people or her kindred" Esther 2:10. Esther lived in the ultimate spa resort where, for over twelve months, she received beauty treatments and perfume baths.
Finally, "Esther was taken to King Ahasuerus...And the king loved Esther more than all the women, and she found favor and kindness with him, so that he set the royal crown on her head and made her queen instead of Vashti" Esther 2:16-17.
PRAYER----In the beginning, Esther was unaware of how God would use her life. Lord, let me be as available and obedient to You.
