NOVENA FOR THE CHURCH MILITANT

Snowmoon suggested we start another novena and asked for suggestions. I suggested that we pray for the Church Militant in the Middle East and Africa, where surely they are suffering in this current age of martyrdom. Then yesterday, I saw that a man had been fired from his job at Fox Sports channel because he had previously expressed his Christian views on marriage and abortion. This was before he took the job at Fox and had nothing to do with his job there. He was fired for his expressing his beliefs. So, although our persecution in the West isn't at the level it is in the East, we too need God's protection. So, I'm suggesting we start a Novena for all the Church Militant on Friday, October 4. Here's a suggestion for our novena:

Novena to the Holy Spirit for persecuted Christians

“Renew your wonders in this our day as by a new Pentecost” – Pope John XXIII

Father, pour out your Spirit
upon your people,
and grant us
a new vision of your glory,
a new experience of your power,
a new faithfulness to your word, and
a new consecration to your service,
that your love may grow among us,
and your kingdom come:
through Christ our Lord.
Amen

God the Holy Spirit,
Comforter and Sanctifier.
Melt our hearts
that we may accept your love.
Renew our minds
that we may know your truth.
Strengthen our wills
that we may serve you faithfully.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen

Prayer for protection

Holy Michael, the Archangel,
defend us in the day of battle;
be our safeguard against the wickedness
and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do thou,
O prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God
thrust down to hell Satan,
and all other evil spirits
who wander through the world
seeking the ruin of Souls.
Amen

Our Father, who art in Heaven...

Hail Mary, full of grace...
