    Late posting as ever!

    6Oct 13.1
    9Oct ->3.2
    12Oct -> 5.9

    MTD -> 22.2

    The 13.1 was the London Royal Parks half marathon. Enjoyable run on a beautiful sunny morning. I missed by target time, although I did run a personal best (2:03:47), so not all bad

    Congratulations!

    I think my calves are finally recovered from last weekend's hilly Ragnar. I bow down to those of you who run serious hills regularly - the gentle slopes around my house that my friends complain about may as well be flat!

    Hahaha. Depends on which one you do and which legs you get! That's the beauty of it - it can be pretty chill or pretty killer, depending on your experience and training. I think I'm addicted to relays.

    Check this article out (for the people interested in numbers) concerning a comparison of runners between the 2012 and 2013 Chicago Marathons.

    http://running.competitor.com/2013/10/news/chicago-marathon-by-the-numbers_86470

    Interesting observations between 2012, and 2013 Chicago Marathon:
    increase in number of women in every women age category (except W45-49)
    increase in number of men in every man age category. (most significant M45-49)
    Increase in negative splits in every age/gender category!

    Thanks for sharing this link! I totally geek out on numbers and running Chicago this year makes it even more interesting for me! :flowerforyou: Did you catch the article on the man with MD that finished??? What an inspiring story! Watching him cross the finish line on the news the next morning brought tears to my eyes!

    I did see the story of the MD guy, And I saw the video (see below), that was truly awesome. I agree with him on crossing the finish line; it is really is 'spiritual'. Here is a link to the video where I first learned about him (and I am not sure if he discusses the finish line here it may be in a separate video):

    Week 1: Oct 01-Oct 06: 5+26.2 = 31.20
    Week 2: Oct 07-Oct 13: 5.42 (= easy & slow, but still felt challenged) = 05.42
    Week 3: Oct 14-Oct 20: 6.64 + (5 track but lower intensity) + 3.1 (short race) + 13.1 = 28
    Week 4: Oct 21-Oct 27: recovery done, ramping up mileage = 40 something (hoping).

    Doing the Disney Goofey Challenge In January (will do for fun, may stop, and take photos), and I signed up for another marathon where I will push it, trying to BQ, in mid June (I know... it may be warm!). :drinker:

    Makes perfect sense. :) Sometimes my competitive half creeps up on me and makes me ask silly questions...

    Excited to have met my October goal today by finishing in 1st place in my age group at a 5K ... and no, I was not the only 50-54 in my group! I am 54, which makes me smile because I was faster than those 50 year old women - LOL! Finished in 29:09 ... not bad for a runner with two hip replacements!

    4 miles today - I ran the pumpkin run (see avatar). I did the kids run with my niece and nephew, and the adult 5 k. That puts me over my goal for the month and it's not even over!! First time I made goal in awhile.
