JONAH LEARNS COMPASSION

When God saw their deeds, that they turned from their wicked ways, then God relented concerning the calamity which He had declared He would bring upon them. Jonah 3:10

Have you ever petitioned God on behalf of someone who deeply needed prayer, only to feel that they were ungrateful when their life situation finally turned around? Jonah had risked his life to bring this message to the people of Nineveh that God was furious with them, and the people didn't even bother to thank him. So he left the city and went where he could watch the complete and utter annihilation of Nineveh.

Intruding on Jonah's pity part, God asked, "Do you have good reason to be angry?" Jonah 4:4

And Jonah responded by saying he'd risked life and limb for nothing. God acted with kindness and compassion, just as Jonah knew He would. And the Ninevites were never punished.

"So the Lord God appointed a plant and it grew up over Jonah to be a shade over his head to deliver him from his discomfort. And Jonah was extremely happy about the plant. But God appointed a worm when dawn came the next day, and it attacked the plant and it withered. And it came about when the sun came up that God appointed a scorching east wind, and the sun beat down on Jonah's head so that he became faint and begged with all his soul to die" Jonah 4:6-8

PRAYER----"Then the Lord said, "Should I not have compassion on Nineveh, the great city in which there are more than 120,000 persons?" Jonah 4:10-11

I praise my compassion God!
