Halloween Candy - dreading it

So I have two kids (ages 9 and 10) and they are so excited about Halloween. I don't mind decorating a bit and being festive but gosh, I'm thinking about all that candy being around and it's making me antsy. Certain candy I can do without but I know myself and certain candy is hard to resist. Plus, people bring extra candy into work for weeks after. Ugh Ugh Ugh. Usually my kids are on a kick initially and then slowing I start draining their bags and getting rid of or donating their stuff or even bringing into work.
Last year I decided to buy our candy earlier than normal because if you wait too long, they are literally putting out the xmas candy (so annoying). But, I swear I ate an entire bag of milky ways before Halloween even arrived.
I don't want to do that this year. I have to have a long talk to my will power and make sure they work hard this month!
Anybody else out there dreading Halloween? Do you have any particular strategy you will use?
I don't want to feel this way because the kids are getting older and pretty soon won't care as much and I want to enjoy for their sake while they are still kind of young. But man will this be hard.

I'm not really "dreading" it, but I have already made the proclamation that I am NOT buying any this year and keeping it around the house. Unlike you, I do not have young children in the house, but really......just buy candy you do NOT Like to give away for Trick or Treat!! That's what I'd do. LOL
As far as work is considered, that's a toughy!! Just tell yourself that it's not for YOU...it's for others to eat and they will be the ones to gain weight and spend more at the dentist!! lol It's tough, I know.
p.s. Don't buy Milky Ways!0 -
Agree - buy candy that you don't like! I think it's easier over here in Australia because Halloween is such an American thing. It's hard to get into the spookiness of it all when it's light outside until at least 8pm! But we still get some trick and treaters. Last year was our first year in Oz (rather than New Zealand) and it was mostly adults with no kids. Now THAT weirds me out! Although one of them told me we have a nice yard (upping the creepy factor right there!) My kids have never been trick or treating though, it feels weird even for kids to go and knock on people's doors and ask for candy. I normally just buy a couple of bags of minis that I don't like (strangely, I could leave Milky Way's sitting there for weeks lol) and have them there just in case. Anything we don't give out I let the kids eat, then I don't have to think about it.0
