Ok. Im not on my death bed anymore. Just in time for a new month a
This challenge is a bit different. After all the hard work with the classics . Thanks for another awesome Classics year TheBigYin!
I thought we could do something a little lower key.
This month. Just ride! But you must get in atleast one ride in the dark! Find a way to take a pi. And post it or them. The more after sundown rides, the more points.

well, as other than this Sunday's finale to the Classics Challenge (the "Falling Leaves Classic") I'm at a complete loose end riding wise, and probably in need of more "smiles not miles" riding for a month or so - I may try and find the charger for my lights and get out in the woods on the MTB scaring the dog-walkers at some point in October. :-)0

The Lights are charged!

I'm up for it. I have an early commute to catch a train in the morning, which will be dark at the start... Does that count?0
-
Yes, dark AM miles count0

Well, jeesh - here I brought my bike to work to store in the bike locker so I can ride in the daylight during the middle of the day. I guess I'm scared of the dark then. But I will see what I can do. Stretch those mental muscles.0

OK I'm in, not sure how many rides I'll get in, busy month ahead but I reckon there'll be a couple of dark commutes at least!!0

I've never ridden in the dark, but I'll give it a go...I'm not afraid, or at least not yet:/0

I love riding in the dark. It's even better riding in the light falling snow in the dark, like a cocoon of bikey goodness. In.0

I intend to embrace it and expect to be doing a fair bit in the dark, time to man up for the Winter, do need more powerful lights though, riding downhill at 35mph on a zero lit country road with the trees obscuring the moon light is just a tad living on the edge, albeit rather thrilling , I'll see if I can take a couple of pics, expect them to be a bit grainy. Here's one I took early 5am last month when I set off in the dark while cycling with the sun coming up, a very nice way to start the day0

could not agree more!0 -
some of my favourite MTB rides have been night-rides on moonlit nights in winter, with the snow on the ground - freezing cold obviously - but a large section of my offroad trail is not under any tree cover, and I've often been able to just switch the lights off and ride by moonlight and reflections in the snow. Magical.0

Had a couple of commutes like that last winter. Shut off the lights and roll by the light of the moon. Think at the next full moon I'll put out feelers locally for a moonlit mystery tour...would be a lot of fun.0 -
Count me in, all my morning commute rides are in the dark, I leave the house generally around 4:15 am. My evening rides will be in the dark soon too.0

Well - I sorta did it. We started with the sun up and rode past sunset. Does that count? The picture is in my profile pictures. Its pretty dark and the hubby is a lousy picture taker. It felt daring to be riding out in the dark with the cars driving by. I was very glad I had my light fleece jacket as the temps drop fast this time of year once the sun slides behind the Rockies.

Cool, looks like close encounters of the third kind0 -
Long days at work lead to dark rides to and from.
Here's from one last week:

I love riding in the dark! Did it all summer long to avoid dehydration and sunburn. I get done with work after sunset, so I ride home in the dark every night, these days.
For a good time, get together a group of friends in mid-December and go check out Christmas displays. I did that last year, and it was marvelous!0 -

That's actually a great idea!
And these really do like close encounters of some type - great lights!

my night ride from last week0 -
Failed dismally I'm afraid - had a piss-poor month on the bike altogether - wasn't fit to ride in daylight and warmer temperatures for most of it, never mind at night.
sorry it's a DNS from me.

I think I finished with five rides that required lights a majority if not all of the ride this October. This coming month it will be more like 15 I hope.0
